Job Description

oversee and manage the day to day functions of the accounting department.


· Maintain, test, modify proper controls over the accounting functions

· Review each company’s general ledger for accuracy

· Review each company’s A/R and A/P list

· Review Fixed Asset schedules for each company

· Approve invoice payments for each company

· Inform CFO of weekly wire payments to AAM, Compact Wood, etc. and relay the information to staff accountant and accounts payable

· Inform A/R / Credit Manager of wire payments received from AAM

· Approve customer refunds

· Perform cut off procedures for month end testing

· Review month end reports

· Review weekly and monthly reports from Transportation Insight

· Review each company’s monthly unopened bank statements

· Calculate monthly commissions for sales reps and bonuses for CS managers and send memo to reps.

· Manually input employee 401k contributions to Mass Mutual twice a month

· Review payroll reports

· Summarize monthly payroll entries and give to staff accountant to record

· Review sales reps 2% monthly expenses

· Work with TI regarding any discrepancies

· Assist with issues regarding TI/TMS system

· Assist in inventory control and maintenance

· Perform special projects and tasks as assigned

Subordinate Jobs

· Accounts Receivable/Credit Manager – collect and post receivables, approve and set up new customers.

· Staff Accountant – maintain accurate accounting records, reconcile accounts, file certain tax reports, make manual payments, record payments.

· Accounts Payable – process accounts payable.

· Accounts Payable clerk – process accounts payable.

· Invoicing/Reporting – invoice customers, daily booking reports, monthly sales reports, ad hoc reports.

Authority and Responsibility

· Position can autonomously adjust and record to the general ledgers, approve invoice payments, allow special circumstances regarding accounts receivable, modify accounting processes and controls.

· Position consults the CFO regarding major changes to accounting controls and any questions regarding the application of accounting procedures and principles.

Equipment Operations

· Position uses a computer, phone, iPad.

· Ability to discuss and explain all processes of the accounting department

· Knowledge regarding handling of specific accounting principles related to companies

· Timeliness and accuracy of accounting records and internal reports

· Timeliness and accuracy of external filings

· Ability to manage the accounting department

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

· Thorough understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

· Ability to manage people.

· Ability to communicate with any level in the company.

· Ability to prioritize tasks.

Education, Training, and Experience

· Degree in Accounting

· All courses required for an Accounting degree. Managerial courses would be helpful.

· Minimum 5 years at an organization that has multiple companies and was heavily involved with all aspects of the accounting functions.

Learning Period:

· 12+ months to perform job competently.

· No specific aspect of job is overly difficult; however, the multiple companies and industry specific terminology and practices take longer to fully grasp.

Pay: $60.00 - $75.00 per year

Key Accountabilities  * Create customer success plans to drive growth for each account  * Support solution design and technical implementation of current desired integrations as outlined in the customer success plan. * Monitor user adoption and product utilization and create targeted programs to increase engagement and support the agency's change management process. * Build strong relationships between the Miovision product and support teams to ensure continuous resolution of ongoing operational issues as well as product deficiencies that may come up.  * Participate in regular support and health checks to ensure accounts are continuing to derive value from our solutions * Support software renewal and upselling activities  Skills/Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalency or achievement of recognized professional level * 5+ years of technical experience; must understand network products * Ability to travel internationally, providing on-site consulting work to clients * Ability to manage multiple projects utilizing strong planning and organizational skills * Experience with general consulting skills that include team facilitation, business case development, strong business analysis skills, process mapping and process redesign * Systems implementation skills: requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration, testing, training, change management and support * Analytical nature with the ability to solve complex business issues * Basic understanding of product development and engineering processes.  We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
