GENERAL DESCRIPTION


The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day end-user requests and issues in our multi-location and multi-user computing environment are dealt with in a timely and effective manner. The overall goal is to maximize safety and effective usage for the end-user of any IT related equipment and business applications. The responsibilities of this position typically include installing and configuring system hardware and software, troubleshooting the root cause and resolving issues, upgrading software, performing backup/recovery tasks resolving network issues, and implementing projects. The Systems Administrator must be self-motivated, detailed-oriented and capable of performing duties independently with little supervision.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

IT equipment used below includes but is not an all-inclusive list: computers, monitors, printers, projectors, cameras, time clocks, copiers, phone system, networking equipment or any device that connects to the internal or external network

  • Installs/updates/configures/troubleshoots/refurbishes/maintains IT equipment and software including operating systems (e.g. Windows 7/10, MS Office suites & Mac O/S), drivers and custom applications at the current version approved by IT management.

  • Upgrades and implements ERP software solutions. Troubleshooting to differentiate between user and system errors. Identifying how multiple applications interface with each other and with an entire system.


  • Configures and troubleshoots network connectivity issues of TCP/IP protocol/utilities. Troubleshoots access to shared folders, e-mail, network printing and security permissions.


  • Assists end-users with system startup, backup, recovery and IT equipment performance optimization, user login problems and Remote Desktop connections.


  • Manages data backup processes for disaster recovery purposes.


  • Frequently checks all computers in the organization have the approved antivirus software with up-to-date patch files loaded and are up to date and that all check-for-updates on O/S have been performed.


  • Performs preventative maintenance, including vacuuming IT equipment hardware at regular intervals. Identifies and corrects any unsafe use of IT equipment.


  • Maintains adequate spare equipment, accessories and supplies.


  • Tracks and updates all IT equipment inventory in the applicable document/system and makes sure licenses for any software installed or being loaded are legitimate.


  • Trains users in the use of IT equipment, business applications and assists in resolving problems.


  • Follows established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and operates in a safe manner.
  • Perform other job duties related to the job, as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, education, and/or abilities required for the job:


  • Emergency after hour support may be required.
  • Proficient skills in reading, writing, and speaking in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills & techniques.
  • Basic math skills; proficiency with 10-key calculator.
  • Effective planning & organizing skills; ability to handle multiple task/duties.
  • Proficient PC skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Must have 2 years of ERP experience.
  • Knowledge of general office skills and administrative procedures, including, but not limited to: typing (min. 45-50 wpm), filing, copying, faxing, editing, and development of memos, letters, reports, and correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to comply with Company policies, procedures, & work rules including cGMP, SOP and FDA procedures and regulations.


  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional, cooperative demeanor, conduct, and working relationship with peers, management, employees, and other individuals that interact with this position.

SELECTION GUIDELINES


The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are achievable through the following combination of education, work experience and training:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED Certificate; and


  • College Degree preferred (CS or MIS major preferred);


  • Must maintain sensitive information confidentially.

  • 2 years+ relevant experience of network administration and computer troubleshooting in a fast-paced work environment; or

  • 2 years+ of ERP Experience.


  • Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successful perform the job.


  • Professional certificates of IT related institutes, organizations, manufacturers or vendors (CompTIA, Microsoft, VMWare, etc.) is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

The essential functions of this job require the employee to perform the following physical activities during the course of work:

  • Communicates orally with management, employees, co-workers, vendors, suppliers, governmental compliance agencies, and the general public by telephone or in person, in one-on-one or group settings.


  • Regularly uses a telephone, computer (e-mail) and fax for communication.


  • Required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time during the course of work shift.


  • Routinely required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, and reach, in the performance of job function.


  • Requires the essential use of hands, speech, eyesight, and hearing.


  • Requires agility to operate multiple telephone lines with the use of hands and head-set.


  • Lifting limitations for this position: 30-35 lbs.

  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed.


  • Requires incumbent to sit and operate computer for extended periods of time during course of work day, and the ability to proficiently use the computer key-board for typing.


  • Noise level for this work environment is typically low to moderate.


  • Periods of odoriferous environment.
