THE ROLE


We are looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR), who will play a key role in driving the company's growth by identifying and engaging with key technology decision-makers, specifically CTOs and CIOs, across various industries. Your main focus will be on generating and qualifying new business opportunities for MindsDB's AI developer platform, which enables organizations to move past prototyping and deliver production-ready AI applications that can form answers from any data.


To apply for this role you must be a motivated self-starter with a passion for technology and AI, and eager to contribute to a fast-growing startup environment. You must be willing to learn outbound prospecting techniques including cold calling, email outreach, and social media engagement, with strong communication skills that allow you to simplify complex technical concepts and present them compellingly. Highly organized and data-driven, you prioritize leveraging and updating CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot) to manage and report on pipeline activity. Adaptable and coachable, you thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and are excited about the potential of AI and machine learning technology, with a strong desire to learn more about MindsDB's offerings and the broader industry. This is a hybrid role (2-3 days in office/week) and we are looking for a candidate based in the Bay Area.


WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON

  • Qualify inbound leads from marketing by understanding our ideal customer profile and how our solution applies to various technical and business challenges. Diligently follow up with inbounds to ensure meetings occur
  • Prospect and generate leads through outbound activities including cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, and other innovative strategies.
  • Research target companies and key decision-makers to develop personalized outreach strategies that resonate with their unique challenges and goals.
  • Educate prospects on the value of AI in optimizing their technology infrastructure and accelerating business outcomes.
  • Craft multi-touch outbound campaigns. Constantly experiment to improve outbound metrics.
  • Schedule discovery calls and product demos for Account Executives, ensuring seamless handoffs for deeper engagement.
  • Collaborate with marketing to follow up on campaigns and optimize lead generation efforts.
  • Track and report on key sales metrics (e.g., outreach activities, lead conversion rates, and experiment results) using CRM and outbound campaign software.
  • Stay up-to-date on AI trends and competitive landscape to effectively position our solutions.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

You will have:

  • A 3/4 year college degree
  • Proven record of persistence, determination, and competitive spirit
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions clearly and confidently.
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
  • Curiosity and passion for AI technology and its applications in business.

Nice to have:

  • 1-2 years of sales experience.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce, HubSpot and outbound tools like Outreach.io.
  • Familiarity with AI or software development.
