Technical Program Manager II - VMware, Tanzu

The VMware Modern Application Platform Business Unit (MAPBU) is looking for a Technical Program Manager to join us in building the Tanzu portfolio and transform how the world deploys and scales software. This role will work across the engineering teams to be the ‘glue’ that facilitates the flow of features to our customers while keeping our quality bar high. As a TPM at VMware your primary role is to effectively deliver software of highest value.
This role is specifically targeted for the Run Manage Observe (RMO) Pillar that encompasses Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, Tanzu Observability, Tanzu Mission Control programs. Run modern infrastructure by simplifying the adoption of Kubernetes. Manage resources across teams to meet the needs of both operators and developers. Observe modern application and cloud infrastructure-oriented monitoring, tracing, and logging.

You can understand distributed systems, how they work, and partnering with engineering teams to set the technical direction, vision and strategy. You can manage a program around a nascent SaaS (Software as a Service) platform solution with early customer adoption as it evolves and scales towards an established, mature product in the market.
This role includes but is not limited to helping build systems and feedback loops around RMO, providing feedback and coaching to Engineering and Product teams and leadership within the program, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement and learning within Tanzu R&D.

Desired Skills / Experience:
Technical Program Management across complex programs in which several product teams are delivering product features and managing dependencies with other programs and products within a large portfolio.
Has solid understanding of software development, and other technical subjects related to jobs such as virtualization, software infrastructure systems, containers, storage, data migration, capacity, load balancing, and networking.
Familiarity and experience with agile software delivery methodologies and lean mindset.
Defining, establishing, and maintaining a consistent, traceable decision-making process across a heterogeneous landscape of stakeholders.
Gathering metrics and building reports and dashboards that detail program health including customer success, project execution, and team health.
Facilitating planning and coordination efforts with Go-To-Market and Sales teams to support their schedules and planning, tracking, and communicating product delivery expectations with potential and existing customers.
Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts at a level equivalent to Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in related fields

A well-defined cadence for the RMO prodeng teams while managing critical integrations across the TKG program
Comfortable navigating uncertainty and creating new paths
Work towards release development lifecycle and mitigate risks partnering with PM, UX, engineering teams
Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions
Manages technical programs, projects and initiatives affecting area goals and objectives.
Drives the management of cross-functional leadership teams; facilitating, coordinating and leading cross-functional teams to complete a variety of technical program plans, tasks, and milestones.
Maintains an awareness of industry trends, business conditions and internal processes and practices to influence the success of programs and initiatives.
Maintain healthy relationship within RMO teams and build partnerships across teams

She has a depth of knowledge with technical expertise and leadership skills across many organizations (Cisco, VMware and other companies) in the valley, leading large-scale programs and working with customers, partners globally.
