US Acquisition and Client Group (USACG) is the phone-based account management and sales teams for the US Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment in GCS. USACG has over 500 colleagues located in Phoenix, AZ, Sunrise, FL, and New York, NY as well as approximately 100 vendor agents in AZ and WI, who engage to acquire new customers, provide early tenure treatment, and retain and grow >1 million US Small, Medium, and Large Enterprise commercial clients, delivering >$300B in customer billings each year.
The Commercial Acquisition Group is an organization with 275+ colleagues within USACG that is responsible for the acquisition and development of our highest potential and highest spending small business customers. The successful incumbent will have experience leading sales teams in a leadership role and will ensure sales targets, production and compliance metrics are achieved across the team through continuous coaching and development.
We are seeking an experienced leader who possesses self-confidence, a positive attitude, a high level of business acumen, strong executive presence, and a willingness to coach a team of professionals towards long term consistent success. The primary focus of this role is to lead a team of eight to ten inside sales representatives. The successful Sr. Manager of this specialized commercial tele sales team will guarantee compliant sales targets production and compliance metrics are achieved across their team through continuous mentorship and development. The ability to identify, communicate and execute successful sales strategies and share standard methodologies across the team and broader organization is critical.
- Mentor team members to uncover the needs of prospective customers and recommend our products
- Provide one-on-one mentoring in a positive way with personal accountability
- Analyze prospect data, develop appropriate strategies, and prioritize selling activities
- Analyze individual colleague and team results and provide appropriate feedback
- Build positive relationships across the organization, and cross functional partners, engaging with them daily

- Be a champion of and for compliance within USACG and GCS
3 years of formal leadership experience.
Strong relationship and leadership skills with both internal business partners and external customers.
Solid thought-leadership to provide creative and innovative solutions to clients’ business needs.
Proven ability to develop and strengthen relationships at senior levels of client organizations.
Adept at managing strategic partner relationships within and outside the organization.
Track record that demonstrates an outstanding ability to acquire new business or grow existing business relationships.
Broad and deep background and experience with Small and Middle Enterprise customers.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Ability to articulate and deliver the American Express value proposition.

Strong digital literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet)
Experience mentoring outbound tele sales teams is preferred
B2B work experience and experience using Salesforce is preferred
Bachelor's Degree in sales, marketing or equivalent field preferred
