The Role
The Sales Trainee is a field-based job that is made to prepare the Sales Trainee for the Field Sales Representative (FSR) role. The role primarily is to support sales initiatives and provide route coverage for FSRs.
The Sales Trainee role is a 12-month training opportunity. If promotion to the role of Field Sales Representative (or other role) does not happen prior to the expiration of the 12-mos completion period, the Sales Trainee role will be vacated due to end of assignment unless an exception applies.
At the end of the 12 months, if no Field Sales Representative or otherwise qualified role is available AND the Sales Trainee is meeting performance standards, the employee may remain in the Sales Trainee role up to 18-months OR until an FSR or another qualified role is available (whichever comes first).
The Sales Trainee role is an at-will position, meaning that the Company or Sales Trainee can terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason or no reason at all, with or without cause.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and understand Congo Brands products and processes.
- Cover Field Sales Representative routes as needed.
- Sell in distribution with proper merchandising standards to new accounts.
- Maintain store merchandising presence by selling and delivering adequate stock and merchandising existing points of distribution.
- Increase sales by selling new distribution, new shelf sets, new cold box placements, new displays, new racks, and new cold equipment.
- Ensure cold equipment maintains the professional image of our brands: clean and in good working order.
- Keep backstock organized.
- Communicate problems, needs, and successes with your direct manager.
- Complete needed administration through CRM.
- Support the team with audits, blitz, building of displays, merchandising to effectively drive the sales business.

Required Skills and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED
- A candidate must be 21 years of age or meet the minimum state legal age requirements.
- Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift products from 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must obtain a valid DOT medical card prior to starting employment, ensuring compliance with all Department of Transportation health and safety standards for commercial drivers.
