We are looking for passionate problem solvers who are eager to collaborate on projects to improve the built environment and the world we live in.

The Market Leader role is an important leadership position within the organization and its operations. The Market Leader is considered a vital leader for the firm relative to strategic market planning and direction, motivator/cheerleader of Client Relationship Managers and Business Developers for pursuit of sales within the market and resident expert of the market for all others within the organization. Given the right skillsets this individual can and should be the design leader for education projects, at least the design initiator working with other designers in the firm.

Responsibilities

Strategic Market Leadership (65%)

  • Develop market sector business development strategies in conjunction with Business Developers and Client Relationship Managers
  • Perform business development activities – meet with prospects, implement business development strategies
  • Leads the team assignments for education related proposals and qualifications
  • In conjunction with the Executive Team, recommends Client Relationship Manager assignments to existing education clients
  • Participates in Strategic Planning Group
  • Creates annual business development budget and market metrics in conjunction with the Executive Team
  • Works with Marketing team to create marketing materials
  • Establishes firm design parameters for education projects

Project Specific Duties (15%)

  • Works with designers and clients to visualize and create early conceptual direction for education projects
  • Provides input on design, technical and procedural matters of education projects

Outreach & Communication (20%)

  • Attends conferences, speaks and publishes on education topics
  • Keeps abreast of current trends in education and education design trends
  • Assists Project Managers with contract development
  • Provides client quality assessments on education projects
  • Provides market updates to Executive Team
  • Coordinates and conducts training of staff on education matters
  • Other firm-wide tasks and duties as assigned

Technical Qualifications

  • Experience in business development and operational oversight in the A/E industry and be a proven producer with experience in developing and maintaining successful client relationships
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in related field (i.e. Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or Business Management)
  • Registration in Michigan and/or New York, preferred

Physical Qualifications

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Physical dexterity and ability to negotiate around a crowded and busy working office area, and around a crowded and busy working area, including construction sites
