Key Result Areas

  • Lead crew in weekly & seasonal tasks to maintain landscapes for commercial or residential customers (mow, trim, blow, prune, spring/fall cleanups, etc.). Plan and organize weekly tasks, clean and maintain equipment.
  • Serve customers proactively and with excellence so that property is beautiful (green grass, weed free, properly pruned shrubs, etc.).
  • Document work and communicate with account manager and customers on a daily basis.
  • Leading team members to create team cohesion, treating everyone with respect, dignity, and a caring heart. Training team members in tasks as necessary.
  • Perform snow removal duties during the winter months as necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible to oversee and run a maintenance crew
  • Effectively manage small groups of team members including training, supervising, crew development and individual team member issues
  • Assist with securing all materials and equipment needed
  • Responsible to coordinate efficient maintenance routes
  • Ensure projects are completed on time
  • Demonstrate dependability and efficient work practices
  • Maintain positive client relations and answer on-site client questions
  • Proficient use of power equipment (mowers, blowers, trimmers, etc.)
  • Responsible to conduct minor repairs on equipment
  • Responsible to diagnose and repair minor irrigation problems (promptly identify and report major irrigation problems)
  • Responsible to diagnose basic turf issues
  • Responsible for a crew’s truck, trailer, and equipment, including regular maintenance and organization
  • Responsible to pursue training as recommended by supervisor (and take initiative for learning!)
  • Responsible for snow removal operations throughout the winter
  • Become a landscape certified technician (or similar certification) within one (1) year of hire

Specific Job Details

  • A commitment to full working hours (40-50 hrs/week) throughout the complete season (April-October, and often extends to March - November) is required for this position.
    • Typical workweek Monday – Friday, 7am-6pm. Occasional Saturdays based on weather.
  • Supervising 1-5 Maintenance Crew Members
  • Physical Labor is required for this position. Foremen spend most of their time working outside in all weather conditions and temperatures. Foremen must be comfortable with a lot of walking, carrying and pushing power equipment, and bending, especially when detailing beds. Loud noise and vibrations from equipment are normal, and proper PPE will be provided.
  • Winter schedule will include additional maintenance and landscape projects, snow removal operations, additional training and certifications, attendance at home shows, industry conferences, etc.
  • Snow removal operations include snow plowing, shoveling, salting, ice removal, etc. and are typically overnight shifts. Once snow is in the forecast, it becomes an on-call position.
  • Other job tasks as required or assigned.

Desired Skills:

  • 2 + years experience in landscape maintenance
  • 1+ years experience as a landscape maintenance foreman
  • Landscape Industry Certification or other relevant certification
  • **If candidate has less than 1 year of experience, the Crew Lead position will be considered**
