**Must have Powersports industry experience**
**Resource can sit in Raleigh-Durham area OR Shreveport, LA**
About the job
With the acquisitions so far we’ve got a small but quite effective sales force calling on dealers – a total of 5 outside sales people spending essentially all their time calling on dealers and a handful of ‘inside’ sales people who spend most of their time doing things that aren’t calling on powersports dealers. We’re going to ramp all of this up quite a lot. And when I say ‘we’ I mean ‘you’. Of course, you’ll have help and support, but you’re going to be driving the sales bus.
We need a highly qualified person who can organize the sales team we have, lay a foundation for continued expansion in staff and growth, execute the plan, and roll with the changes as we acquire additional companies in the future. The Highlifter acquisition just closed on January 19, 2021 and that’s where most of the sales staff mentioned above comes from – so there’s been no substantial integrating or organizing or merging or any other ‘ings’ related to the sales function. You will not be starting from a blank slate, you’ve got a handful of pieces to work with already, but there’s a lot of building and planning to do.
You’ll have all the normal duties and responsibilities a title like this would have – including hiring, comp plan, sales strategy, hitting sales targets, etc etc etc. There’s pressure and the bar will be set high. You’ll have good brands and products for you and your team to sell, and resources needed to get the job done. You’ll be working quite hard and the pace will be fast. If you do not think it sounds like a challenging but fun job, you’re not the right fit.
You’ll report directly to the EVP of the UTV division and interact with just about every other department on a daily basis. You can work at the Seizmik office in Fuquay Varina NC, or at the Highlifter office in Shreveport LA.
It’s a very casual work environment – shorts and t shirt are fine, but wear whatever you want (except unitards, don’t wear those) – just be good at your job. There’s at least one dog that comes to work every day at each of the two facilities mentioned.
You’ve been a sales leader before, and you’ve got at least 5 years of experience at the regional manager level or higher. You’re comfortable with aggressive sales goals and a high growth environment. You’ve got connections and experience in the powersports industry and when you need to get things done you know who to call. You understand how powersports dealers work and you see opportunities in the various dynamics going on in the industry right now. You’re an optimist, excited about what the future holds, and you’re not having any fun unless you’re driving change and moving things forward.
You’re extremely computer savvy and very comfortable learning new software. This does not mean you’re a programmer or IT professional – but it does mean that you’re not a ‘hunt and peck’ typist and that you can figure out how to use software without needing someone to hold your hand through the basics. We use AX, so you’re experienced with that or Microsoft Great Plains or something very very similar. And, of course, you’re a whiz with Excel.
Your communications skills are top notch. You’ve got tons of charisma. You’re a leader, and you assume that role naturally and its comfortable for you.
You’re smart, aggressive, thick skinned, and you work hard. You don’t have be told what to do, and when you don’t know what to do next you don’t sit there waiting for someone to tell you what to do – you seek it out.
You’re very organized – some people joke that you’re anal retentive, but you don’t really think so. You have a good memory, and you don’t lose stuff. You can manage your own to-do list and not say ‘oh yeah, I forgot to do that’ more often than you say ‘yup, it’s already done’.
You probably went to college, but experience and the school of hard knocks is good too.
If this sounds interesting to you, drop me a line and we will see what happens.
