About Action Gypsum Supply
Action Gypsum Supply is an independently owned building material distributor with locations in Texas, California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Oklahoma. For almost 20 years they have grown through strong relationships with customers and vendors while continuing to innovate in the construction supply industry.
Summary/Objective:
Outside sales representatives are responsible for growing and maintaining a current customer base by providing an invaluable level of customer service through the sale of various building materials. The OSR manage the territory and/or customer assigned, including managing the order fulfillment process and claims resolution. Outside sales representatives build customer relationships to generate business for Action Gypsum Supply. Developing strong relationships within our customer base is critical as this position is the primary customer contact for coordinating phased, and single order processing. This position also functions to provide advice on order status, and offer or coordinate technical support on product features, and installation guidelines. Often the primary contact with the customer is ensuring proactive communication on all phases of the orders entered. It is important that this position has a strong understanding of the products sold at Action Gypsum Supply to provide accurate information and details to customers.
Essential Functions:
- Develop unique plans of action for each customer, track and monitor success and adapt when necessary to ensure growth; effectively gather and capitalize on generated sales leads
- Build long-term customer relationships by providing price quotations, taking material orders, and ensuring orders are properly placed and delivered on time
- Provide competitive pricing to clients with an understanding of overall market conditions
- Understand complete product mixes and impart that information via cross-selling in order to add value to your customers’ business
- Learn product features and associated customer benefits for major product categories and be familiar on the application of those products in residential and commercial projects
- Compile list of prospective customers utilizing all available resources
- Cold call new customers
- Travels throughout assigned area to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders
- Assist customers over the phone or in person regarding the products we sell, services, lead times, product application, installation guidelines, warranties, product samples and available distributors in the customer’s area
- Effectively manage customer expectations by ensuring that service and delivery of materials and goods exceed expectations as well as provide timely and responsive follow-through on all customer inquiries.
- Assist customers with status or updates on existing orders
- Performs follow-up activities on will calls, order clarification, internal order delays and other tasks as assigned, timely and consistently; documenting results, and follow-up actions; effectively coordinate/communicate with various internal departments to answer questions, provide clarification or make changes to orders
- Identity opportunities to improve sales performance
- Personally handle large volume customer accounts as required and assigned
- Uses in-depth knowledge of product application to assist customers in selecting product for their business
- Coordinate product training or demonstrations for customers as needed
- Accurately maintain project files & records for accurate record keeping and follow up
- Makes product recommendations for inclusion in product line
- Coordinate and provide price quotes on products and projects and assist in the credit application process
- Work with the credit department to keep customer account receivables current
- Assists with developing monthly, quarterly and annual sales plan to meet store goals for volume and profitability
- Travels to and attends trade shows
- Attends sales meetings and training sessions as required
- Prepare monthly expense reports

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent- 4+ years outside sales experience
- 2+ years customer service experience in a construction related or building supply industry
