The Direct Appeals Specialist is responsible for the successful execution and support of approved donor appeals and communications initiatives. Communications include, but are not limited to: Direct Mail Campaigns, Email Campaigns, Quarterly Newsletters, Monthly Statements, Mid-Level ($1K-$5K) Mailings, and Specialty Mailings as needed.

Here's what your day may look like...
  • Under the leadership of the Direct Appeals Manager, coordinate donor communication plan activities such as creating and establishing annual and project-specific master timelines; management of concept, graphics, and content through all approval phases to ensure brand consistency, integrity and accuracy of messaging, and production and drop date deadlines are met.
  • With oversight from the Direct Appeals Manager, serve as project manager for quarterly newsletters for both K-LOVE and Air1.
  • Lead execution and coordination of printed monthly statements, along with potential electronic version in the future.
  • Assist in the development and execution of donor and pre-donor email campaigns during annual Pledge Drives, Summer Campaign and Year-End.
  • Assist as needed in all other direct appeal campaigns throughout the year.
  • Manage timelines to ensure each asset runs through the proper approval channels, respectfully offering all parties an adequate amount of time to review and respond.
  • Proofread, edit and author as needed; provide appropriate quality assurance.
  • Consistent adherence to brand voice and style, coupled with a willingness to take a strategic approach to trying new things and learning from the outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Donor Engagement team members; collecting donor stories and testimonies; using the testimonies our listener/donors share (via email, pledge drives, website, etc.) to inspire others and to show how donor support is changing lives in real and tangible ways.
  • Assist with writing and/or editing a variety of assets to support our Donor Services, Donor Outreach, Donor Events, and Donor Relations teams as well as donors at all giving levels.
  • Monitor communication project budgets, ensuring compliance with approved budgets; recommends and facilitates budget updates as appropriate.
  • Partner with Printer Account Manager to establish minimum re-order levels for materials; establish business rules for mailings and projects; order and re-stock as needed; ensure proper disposal of unused materials; ensure postage and pre-paid postage accounts are stocked as needed; on-site ‘proof checks’ as needed; monitor the delivery of data files; trouble-shooting point of contact.
  • Coordinate and make recommendations regarding delivery tools such as paper forms, postage, printer, mail house, email delivery, telemarketing.
Here's some background and experience we are seeking...
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in customer service and/or a field requiring high levels of customer interaction and support required.
  • Must have demonstrated written communication skills including strong copyediting and proofreading skills, including expertise in spelling and grammar.
  • Effective time and detail management with the ability to manage and complete several projects at the same time.
  • Requires strong problem-solving skills and sharp attention to detail.
  • Role requires the ability to self-manage, to track work progress, and to work efficiently without direction and instruction.
  • Ability to establish priorities and handle various tasks simultaneously; perform job under pressure or in critical situations while achieving and accomplishing workload set by leader.
  • Ability to start and complete assignments without specific directions; recognize problems and apply or suggest viable creative solutions; engage in professional growth activities.
  • Dedication to developing excellent relationships with others throughout the organization.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Needs to be seen as a team player.
  • Ability to adapt to changes that occur ministry-wide and interdepartmentally.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Experience in working for a ministry and/or non-profit organization is desirable.
  • Past experience or familiarity with Pardot and/or Salesforce preferred
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn AP Style.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams.
