POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
Business Developer - Greater Los Angeles Area


DUTIES:
Responsible for sales and business development of urban forestry projects in the greater Los Angeles area. Emphasis is placed on selling consulting and planning projects related to urban forestry including; master planning, ordinance and legislation consultation, GIS and i-Tree analysis of urban forests and natural resources, tree inventories; risk tree assessments and tree appraisals; vegetation and natural resource surveys, and invasive and endangered species work; green infrastructure and stormwater consulting projects, software solutions, and grant funding assistance for municipalities and other clients. Occasionally supports project work, including fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and leading a team of experts for urban forestry and natural resource management related jobs.


This position will include marketing, project development, grant writing, and collaboration with other DRG Business units, Davey offices, the Institute, and allied non-profit, industry, and educational partners.


Duties include identifying prospective clients and developing relationships with targeted clients while maintaining existing client relationships. Partner with sales, operations, and marketing teams to create winning proposals. Negotiate contract terms and communicate with stakeholders. Identify work scope, deliverables and ensure delivery. Be a subject matter expert and stay up to date with the latest science and industry news locally and nationally. Represent DRG virtually and in-person at local, regional, and state conferences and events including exhibit booths, speaking engagements, and sponsorships. Typical client types are: local, state, tribal, and federal government agencies, educational institutions, cemeteries, zoos/arboretums, non-profit organizations, and commercial firms.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate located in the greater Los Angeles area. Experienced and holds a network within the local market and urban forestry. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in related fields. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification is highly desirable. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Excellent written, computer, and verbal communication skills, ability to facilitate meetings and presentations. Ability to work independently and to travel regionally.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Consulting Arborist, ISA Municipal Specialist, Board Certified Master Arborist, or TRAQ. It is preferred that the candidate have municipal forestry knowledge, previous experience in sales or consulting, knowledge of municipal purchasing requirements, state and local grant knowledge, active involvement in the industry, and experience with public presentations. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM tools. Applicants with the above referenced qualifications specifically related to urban forestry will be given higher consideration.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Full time positions. Compensation based on qualifications and experience includes a base salary plus commission with no limit on earning potential.
