SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Marketing Coordinator is an externally facing role with emphasis on internal and external education, event planning, supplier relationship development and procurement coordination of incoming Wellness new item presentations. In addition to onboarding new, emerging suppliers, the role is engaged in regular event execution, both on a regional and national scale. Monthly education sessions highlighting products and brands new to Horizon are facilitated by the Coordinator for the Horizon Sales and Customer Service Teams.

This position requires a highly organized individual who has strong communication and follow-up skills, has a professional presentation (requiring persistence), can handle multiple tasks and projects, and is calm and focused when assisting with large events. Expectations include maintaining ongoing product and industry knowledge and striving to be an industry expert.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

1. NEW + EMERGING SUPPLIERS

  • Responsible for onboarding new, emerging suppliers to Horizon. Acts as main contact for new suppliers that do not have an SRM assigned. Vets questions and directs to appropriate staff member if required
  • Provides new, emerging suppliers with the Horizon Onboarding Document, educates and addresses questions
  • Plans and executes quarterly onboarding in-person event for emerging suppliers (local)
  • Facilitates educational seminars and mini “trade show” post-seminars. Liaises with HR to arrange for Horizon staff attendance
  • Produces New Product Launch forms (NPLs) by sku and distributes to recipients, in addition to providing other product launch materials as required

2. NEW PRODUCTS COORDINATION – WELLNESS

  • Coordinates all aspects of new product submissions (Wellness items) from suppliers and brokers to list their products at Horizon Grocery + Wellness
  • Works with suppliers and brokers to gather all necessary information and samples, reviews and screens products
  • Supports suppliers and brokers through the listing process
  • Once listing decisions are made by the Procurement Team members, considerable follow-up and coordination with other areas of the business is required (i.e., Purchasing & Sales)

3. NEW LINES – EDUCATION

  • Performs bi-weekly education sessions on new lines launching in monthly specials to both Sales and Customer Service Teams (Grocery + Wellness)
  • Shares category information with teams in education sessions
  • Offers tastings and/or testers when relevant and efficient

4. TRADE SHOWS + EVENTS (BI-ANNUAL)

  • Executes trade show strategy as determined by Directors
  • Responsible for execution of execution of bi-annual CHFA West and East trade shows for both ONFC and Horizon – working with the Sales Administrative Support Coordinators in both Grocery and Wellness. Travel to Toronto may be periodically required (1 week per year)
  • Works with Horizon and subsidiaries to book CHFA show space and arranging booth configurations. Liaises with subsidiary event planners + trade show coordinators
  • Acts as main CHFA contact related to trade show activity for Horizon Group.
  • Acts as main contact for exhibiting supplier partners at trade shows, including, but not limited to, fielding questions and addressing concerns
  • Organizes billing and recovery and submits to Accounting

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This is a full-time position in the Horizon Marketing Department, based out of our head office in Burnaby.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience facilitating in-person and video presentations to groups of 15+
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Detail-oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proven ability to handle the pressure of being involved in and organizing large events
  • A passion to continue to learn the industry, new products and emerging trends
  • Proficient computer skills: Outlook (especially email), Power Point, Word and Excel skills
