Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc. serves customers in Eastern New York State (23 counties in the Tech Valley), the State of Connecticut, the State of Vermont, and Western Massachusetts (4 counties) since incorporation, May 1972.


Reporting directly to the Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for production scheduling, forecasting, managing custom solution inbound and outbound inventory, and inspecting final products delivered by CS team. The Quality Engineer will work closely with the CIQ Manager, Fabrication team, engineers and operations to ensure customer expectations are met. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, always focused on finding a solution, setting and managing expectations, have a willingness to learn and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule production activities for Custom Solutions (CS) and hose cell products
  • Quote and process orders for CS and hose cell
  • Regularly maintain production schedule, ensuring accuracy
  • Manage inbound and outbound inventory and tracking
  • Procure components for all Custom Solutions orders ensuring materials and resources are ordered and received in time for production and delivery per customer requirements
  • Work with Custom Solutions team to ensure timely delivery of Custom Solutions orders, maintaining a 95% on-time delivery
  • Maintain Quality Document records
  • Collaborate with peers to create Quality processes
  • Conduct and document receiving, 1st piece, in-process build, and final build inspections
  • Ensure Custom Solutions delivery metric report is up-to-date monthly
  • Conduct final inspection and determine logistics, documentation, and packaging requirements
  • Attain required Swagelok certifications in order to be qualified to inspect product
  • Lead root cause investigations and develop long-term corrective action plans
  • Coordinate, Perform & Maintain Calibration Tools & Records
  • Manage non-conforming material processes
  • Coordinate Product Investigations Process with Swagelok
  • Maintain Certification Program Records with Swagelok
  • Support the Quality Management Review Meeting Process
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives – Lean initiatives
  • Monitor Quality KPI’s and provide analysis regarding quality trends, performance, and root cause analysis
  • Perform internal custom solutions quality audits
  • Manage Equipment Maintenance program
  • Support required External Regulatory Audits


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in MEM or Engineering
  • Ability to learn quickly & retain technical information & utilize standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated comfort with basic mathematics (discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumferences & volume including knowledge of basic algebra & geometry)
  • A history of excellence solving practical problems & dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Demonstrated success rapidly building and maintaining relationships
  • Demonstrated success working with technical/electromechanical devices
  • A history of excellence in communication, active listening & problem solving
  • Proven success working independently and with a team environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Word and/or other inventory management & order processing software
  • Proven comfort juggling multiple projects while maintaining poise & patience

Working Conditions & Physical Efforts

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Work is performed in an interior office or mobile work environment
