Converse is looking for problem-solving entrepreneurs to join one of several positions crafted as part of a firm-wide Procurement transformation. We’re looking for Sourcing Manager(s) who will be a part of a dynamic, robust team of sourcing professionals supporting Converse’s critical initiatives. They will be responsible for partnering with Senior leaders and Global Procurement colleagues to handle ongoing partner relationships and identify and establish new partnership relationships that support Converse and Nike, Inc. strategies.
They’ll be a trusted member of a distributed team with the following responsibilities:
Build trusting and important relationships with senior executives across multiple business and services as well as categories including but not limited to Technology, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain and Professional Services!
Drive partner alignment with leadership across Converse & Nike functions and geographies
Understand Converse’s business needs and demonstrate data and market research to resolve and enable strategic objectives
Be agile and willing to adapt to shifting business needs and supporting cross category projects when needed!
Perform deep market analytics and research to develop expertise across assigned categories
Develop and execute sourcing strategies and processes across assigned categories
Analyze business proposals and align with long-term strategies
Develop negotiation strategies and lead contract negotiations with suppliers and internal partners
What will you work on:
Converse Sourcing Managers advise and support business leaders during all phases of the sourcing life-cycle. They will master, communicate, and execute the 7-Step Strategic Sourcing Process. They measure value assembled, report performance, engage Legal support, and execute sourcing initiatives using a suite of sophisticated sourcing and contract management tools. Spend analysis, risk management, contracting, cost savings methodology, performance reporting, partner engagement, and proficiency with sourcing tools are integral to success.
Sourcing Managers own an innovative hypothesis-driven process to build and lead enterprise-wide category strategies that bridge organizational boundaries and that span the globe. They use analytical and research skills to help develop and execute strategies to unlock supplier value, optimize demand, and improve both internal and external processes. The strategies they help to develop will touch every aspect of client-supplier interaction and will include approaches to improve supporting processes, procedures, and technologies at both a local and global level.
Who will you work with:
As a member of the Converse Procurement team, they will report directly to the Director of Procurement for Converse. They will work closely with partners and leaders across multiple business lines in support of sourcing needs across the assigned categories. This growth opportunity will also provide the Sourcing Manager the chance to interact, present, and influence senior leadership to gain support for key initiatives and strategies. They will engage with existing and potential suppliers and drive partnerships at the executive level. They will collaborate with other Sourcing Managers and internal support partners to identify and execute on process improvements!
What you bring:
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, finance, pre-law or related field with 3-5 years directly relevant work experience in Procurement. Ideally, work experience would pertain directly to one/some of the following sourcing categories: Technology, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain and Professional Services
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Acquisitively researches market trends and utilizes standard methodologies to support sourcing activities
Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive 2nd level insights from unstructured data
Proven track record to analyze and interpret spend and cost data, including understanding of Total Cost of Ownership
Experience using different negotiation tactics; shown success negotiating multi-million dollar contracts
Experience supporting legal teams in contract development activities, including knowledge of standard contract structures and key terms
Professional at time-management; ability to actively lead 10-20 projects at anytime and self-prioritize daily work
Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including sophisticated level PowerPoint and Excel
An ability to think Globally and work with an international culturally-diverse team
