Job Title: QC WELD & PROCESS INSPECTOR

Reports to: QC SUPERVISOR


SUMMARY:

Supports daily operations of the Quality Department by performing Quality Control inspection activities as assigned


Essential duties and responsibilities are described below. Other duties may be assigned.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Essential duties and responsibilities):
  • Inspect welds and welding processes IAW AWS guidelines or customer provided requirements
  • Oversee welder and weld process documentation including but not limited to WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, welder proficiency and continuity
  • Manage welder qualification and testing for WPS certifications
  • Select and manage 3rd party NDE providers
  • Support customer required 3rd party/customer Notice of Inspection site work
  • Support and manage pull testing requirement
  • Support development and management of internal NDE program
  • Create, Maintain and Organize QA/QC Documentation to include (but not limited to):
  • Work Order – Operation Sequence Sign Off
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAPs)
  • Certificates of Conformance (C of Cs)
  • Dimensional Inspection Reports
  • MTRs (occasionally)


Performs the following inspection functions:

  • First article inspection and documentation
  • Inspection and analysis of work in progress and finished parts
  • Sample/Lot inspection of parent & component parts; and final assemblies
  • Assist production/manufacturing in the interpretation of customer quality requirements
  • Crosstrain on supporting QC process


Follows company safety & security guidelines

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None, but may develop over time


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Certified Weld Inspector, required
  • NACE Level 1 desired
  • Proficient in the use of typical shop measuring instruments
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, prints and specifications and weld symbols
  • Shop Math
  • Experience with ISO and/or other Quality Standards


ADDITIONAL TRAINING REQUIRED (or to be provided, if necessary):

General computer skills (Word/Excel)

Global Shop training

DISCUS inspection software

GD&T training
