The Federal Programs Account Manager is responsible for attending meetings and events with prospective eligible members. Expected to meet with Federal employee and retiree population on a regular basis to review and promote our offerings. Your goal is to increase brand awareness in the federal marketplace and to drive growth.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday- Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am-5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 10175 Little Patuxent Ste. 200, Columbia Maryland 21044.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive FEHBP (Federal Employees Health Benefit Program) and FEDVIP (Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program) growth strategy
    • Network with Agency Benefit Officers to solicit UHC offerings and capabilities
    • Develop and execute strategies for medical, dental and vision growth within the 9+ million FEHBP and FEDVIP eligible populations
    • Increase awareness and presence of UHC within the local Federal agencies
  • Drive TRICARE FEDVIP dental and vision growth strategy
    • Network with Retired Service Officers to solicit UHC offerings and capabilities
    • Collaborate with military contacts to get in front of the 4+ million eligible members to educate and promote UHC Federal Programs
  • Drive FEDVIP and FEHBP retiree growth strategy
    • Collaborate with UHC Medicare and Retiree to solicit UHC offerings and capabilities
    • Network with Agency Benefit Officers to ensure UHC’s presence at pre-retirement events and seminars to educate and promote UHC Federal Programs
    • Initiate and manage affinity relationships to target the 4+ million Federal retirees
  • Assist Account Management team with wellness and education initiatives, improvement opportunities and monitor all Federal industry dental and vision trends
  • Demonstrate marketing and technical expertise, serve as a dental and vision subject matter expert and support resource
  • Assist Account Management Team with prospecting, conducting and managing schedule of in person and virtual meetings and events
  • Perform other assignments and responsibilities as required by management

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher) OR equivalent years of work experience
  • 1+ year of experience handling large client medical, dental and vision benefit offerings
  • 2+ years of sales and/or account management experience in the insurance industry (medical or ancillary benefits)
  • Strong working knowledge of UHC's portfolio of products, marketing and managed care knowledge
  • Working knowledge of business planning and financial/underwriting acumen
  • Experience with Microsoft Word (create and modify documents), Microsoft Excel (sort, filter, enter data, use basic formulas), and Microsoft Outlook (manage email and calendar)
  • Sales insurance license maintained by law and/or the ability to complete once hired
  • Willingness to travel as required. 75% of role will travel.

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
