Position Summary:
As a Planner, you are responsible for ensuring that truck loads are planned properly to meet our drivers’, company, customers’, and contractors' needs. Planners also ensure that DOT compliance and revenue requirements are met.
Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Assist in maintaining trailer pools
  • Assist in maintaining trailer and tractor service standards
  • Accept load tenders via EDI or other means
  • Manually enter orders into Innovative system
  • Monitor and maintain superior service levels
  • Solicit orders from Brokers as needed
  • Knowledgeable of DOT hours of service guidelines
  • Work with Driver Mangers to meet driver requests and or needs
  • Assist with securing optimal delivery appointments to achieve efficient load, service requirements, and product integrity
  • Establish market plans for geographic areas to include: shift direction, freight selection, rates for spot market requests, asset utilization and prioritization of freight
  • Communicate market plan to Operations, Sales, and Leadership Team
  • Work directly with Sales Team to provide feedback on current and future customer awarded lanes to include reviewing the commitment tool after bids are awarded
  • Interact daily in CS/Planning meeting to include providing direction on how assets will be shifted to oversold markets and/or how undersold markets will be booked if shifting is not an option
  • Takes an active role in new projects/processes and then helps drive the communication and roll out to the Customer Service, Logistics, Appointment and Planner Teams
  • Drives and articulates each area monthly incentive-based program by clearly communicating the KPIs to each associate which in turn helps WEL reach a profitable operating ratio
  • Promote and drive a culture of mutual respect and collaboration across all areas of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Monday - Friday; Day Shift
  • Saturday morning rotation
Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; required
  • Associate Degree (Logistics, Business Management, or relatable field); a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in Transportation or Logistics; a plus
Computer & Essential Skills:
  • AS400 experience; a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite & Windows; preferred
  • Ability to learn proprietary software
  • Ability to tolerate high stress situation

  • Strong attention to details
  • Able to work professionally with diverse group of people internally and externally
  • Ability to multitask and make quick decisions
