Business Development Manager (Medicare & Medicaid)

Scope and Purpose of Position
Responsible for maintaining and growing the interest of sales leads and working closely with SVP and RVPs in the pursuit of new sales; establish rapport, build credibility and maintain on-going communications with internal stakeholders for the coordinated management of multiple sales-related projects, supporting the growth of the Government Health Plan Division.
Essential Functions
  • Work closely with the SVP and RVPs to develop and implement strategic sales initiatives within each sales region
  • Support the pursuit of new sales opportunities and overall revenue growth within all regions
  • In Partnership with Client Management, cultivate relationships with existing clients in the pursuit of upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Participate in Marketing campaigns targeting new prospects to grow and maintain interest in purchasing Versant Health Services
  • Gain expertise in government product requirements; federal and market specific
  • Develop detailed project plans and schedules related to sales campaigns / marketing/media campaigns; conferences; proposal development and delivery; consultant activity;
  • Work with SalesForce administrator to expand dashboards and to track sales results tied to sales activity (sales campaigns, conferences, etc.)
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Proposal Team to ensure proposal content is refreshed on a regular basis;
  • Communicate with multiple departments, consultants, etc. as needed in partnership with Sales Executives to support growth.
  • Participate in interactive, on-site meetings during normal business hours
  • Attend conferences, off-site
  • Create and distribute monthly sales scorecards
  • 10 to 15% travel time
Education and Experience
  • Preferred Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 2-5 years of relevant sales experience in the healthcare industry including knowledge of the government insurance/managed care industry (Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Trade show/conference exhibiting experience
  • Established contacts within government-sponsored health plans
  • Proficiency with CRM (Salesforce preferred), MS Windows and Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
