The Director of VMware Tanzu Labs, Platform Services Americas is a strategic role in our Customer Experience organization reporting to the Senior Director of MAPBU Platform Services for the Americas. It requires a balance of focus on big picture initiatives and customer-facing tactical priorities. In this role you will align to the global services strategy while continuously improving and customizing offerings and solution assets that help customers and partners maximize success with our products. You will recruit, train and build teams of consulting experts that deliver high quality solutions resulting in product licensing growth. You will work with the sales channel both proactively (with polished service motions) and tactically (in support of strategic customer pursuits). You will work with and influence internal teams and commit to customer success across the sales and delivery continuum. You thrive in a chaotic high-growth environment where change is constant and many hats must be worn. Put simply this job requires a creative senior leader with attention to detail, passion, polish and a proven ability to do new things aligned with high-growth, emerging market technology platforms. You will work closely with the Tanzu Services Strategy, VMware Field, Partners, Engineering, Customer Experience and Delivery Operations teams to:

  • Engage field, strategy, product and marketing teams to identify, align, develop and launch new emerging market services offerings in the Application Platform and DevSecOps space.

  • Continually improve service offerings and supportive collateral regarding next generation DevSecOps and Secure Software Supply Chain solutions such as implementation, integration, automation and operations.

  • Focus on the quality of the delivery of Platform Services and for effective resource management, including team scheduling, supply/demand planning and related activities to assure healthy utilization

  • Recruit, hire, coach, counsel and motivate new consulting professionals to foster a strong technology community, deep skills development and overall practice maturity

  • Oversee services delivery and roll-up-sleeves where needed to assure positive service results

  • Participate in weekly sales forecast calls and partner with regional sales leaders to ensure alignment of services strategy

  • Act as an executive sponsor for strategic customers on a transformative journey with VMware technologies

  • Envision, organize and execute product-centric IP initiatives that strengthen value propositions and streamline service delivery

  • Maintain an ongoing technical understanding of VMware Tanzu technologies

  • Manage a large number of competing priorities in a federated, fast-moving work environment

  • Contribute to internally-focused corporate priorities while maintaining customer focus


  • 8+ years of experience delivering services for cloud centric solutions using Modern Agile Delivery Methodologies.

  • 5+ years working in the DevOps space.

  • 10+ years in a professional services leadership role that includes sales, recruitment, operational and strategic responsibilities

  • 10+ years pitching complex services deals, crafting scope, writing proposals and negotiating terms

  • 5+ years experience building new market service offerings, and educating/enabling sales

  • Experience contributing to the development of practice standards, policies and procedures

  • Ability to prioritize projects and deliverables

  • Strong knowledge of DevOps. Software supply chain, PaaS, IaaS and Cloud concepts

  • Knowledge of VMware products

  • Ability to travel as needed
