Reporting to Manager, Commercial Energy Solutions, this position is responsible for:
Leading the development, execution and risk management of all energy solutions business activities related to customer growth and retention in the commercial and industrial sectors in FortisBC’s electric service area
Collaborating across the organization to manage the execution of strategic projects in the electric division by establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers, municipalities, indigenous communities, and industry associations that are key to advancing large customer projects to the network. Responsibilities

Strategic planning of FortisBC’s electric terrritory’s energy solutions sales activities including implementation of long-term growth strategies focused on additional commercial & industrial customers and load through new customer attachments and incremental load growth.
Responsible for leading and facilitating new customer connections to transmission and distribution network and has the technical and business acumen to manage the interconnection process by collaborating with engineering, operations, power supply and other business units as required
Ability to manages and executes on projects across diverse industrial sectors (i.e. wood, pulp & paper, mining, agriculture, hospitals, schools, universities, cannabis, block chain) and support their unique energy needs based on industry sector knowledge.
Lead a team of Energy Conservation Advisors (and Energy Solutions Manager/or Key account manager) to advance FortisBC participation and uptake in conservation and energy management programs and meet the demand side management investment targets for FortisBC.
Develop tools and resources required by the team to ensure successful achievement of targets in a competitive market place.
Build and manage effective relationships between FortisBC and key stakeholers impacting customer connections such as Architects, Engineers, Builder/ Developers, industry associations, consultants and contractors, Government decision-makers and other key strategic stakeholders that will result in continued advancement of business goals.
Maintain awareness of all activities that affect business development potential and to advise senior management on strategic issues related to the electric region’s commercial & industrial customers.
Project management of interconnection request milestones from feasibility study, system impact study to contract execution and customer connection. Collaborate with internal teams and manage project timelines.
Responsible for managing FortisBC’s agreements with wholesale municipal utilities and ensuring contractual obligations are met by both parties. Also responsible for developing, negotiating and executing on power contracts with large customers connecting to the network
Develop business cases in support of new capital investment and/or advancement of capital projects for senior leadership approval. Maintain awareness of all activities that affect business development potential and update/advise senior management on strategic opportunities, challenges and progress related to the region’s customers.
Responsible for managing all account management activities pertaining to the large commercial and industrial customers including complex billing matters and credit & collections. Establish and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with customers and decision makers.
Lead large complex developments, i.e. projects requiring large scale power and infrastructure investment. Provide sales leadership to the Energy Conservation Advisors Team.
Provide input for the development of marketing programs, products and services for the related commercial and industrial customer segments. Work effectively with other departments to ensure a common understanding of growth objectives. Work with Community and Indigenous Relations team by identifying business opportunities in municipal, provincial, federal opportunities and indigenous communities.
Deliver public communications and presentations through trade shows, energy related technical forums, and energy related public forums within the region.
Support customers to develop business cases to attach customers from new emerging sectors.
Ensures internal business processes are responsive to customer needs. Requirements

Bachelors’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Minimum of eight (8) years of recent and related technical experience.
P.Eng designation would be an asset.
Business development skills, demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic projects
Strong technical and business acumen understanding of electric network
Knowledge of the business structure and strategy of a regulated utility
Strong negotiation skills, business and financial acumen
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships involving mutual understanding and collaboration.
Ability to develop, document and implement strategies which prioritize activities in key areas
Strategic thinker regarding growth and barriers to growth
Knowledge of electric network in relations , commercial, industrial and institutional applications and related energy systems
Strong skills in leading others and managing talent
Strong customer focus, demonstrates a passion for customers
Sales management and customer relationship management skills
Strong ability to build and maintain good working relationships
Detail oriented with a clear ability to prioritize activities associated with a number of time sensitive, diverse projects
