Job Overview

The Commercial Development Representative is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a group of high-volume accounts ( less than 25 loads per day) on the Regional Account Team. The Commercial Development Representative will serve as the main point of contact for their customer base and is responsible for building and maintaining the customer relationship. They are responsible for facilitating daily operations, communicating clearly while managing customer expectations, addressing customer issues, and solving problems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handles the accepting or declining of load tenders based on contractual commitments. Facilitates spot quote opportunities for load tenders that do not fall within the contractual commitments and accurately build loads manually in TMS for customers, not on EDI
  • Schedules orders through customer email communication and portal access, factoring in hours of service requirements and transit times that will ensure on-time delivery. Serves as point of contact by proactively communicating to customers when there are service issues or equipment constraints and building and developing relationships with day to day contacts within all assigned customer accounts
  • Tracks and traces loads daily that are scheduled to pick up and deliver and ensures load data is accurate to ensure timely billing and collections
  • Ensures a basic understanding of all assigned back-up accounts to ensure accurate execution when other Services Representatives are out of the office
  • Manages to the customers’ service expectations and participates in periodic account reviews with the customer and assigned sales executive to identify opportunities for account growth and then coordinate with Account Manager and Sales Executive
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to upselling and identifying opportunities for account growth with the customer directly

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Customer service experience, strong computer, typing, and 10-key skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to adapt to organizational changes

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through up to 12 months of work experience
