As a key part of the business, the Managing Director, Client Leadership is responsible for overall management of the client relationship, the strategic direction of the business and development of the team. The Managing Director effectively leverages experience, knowledge and strong digital acumen to push innovative thinking and set challenging team goals and objectives balancing client, company and team needs. Oversight and approval of the development of objectives and strategies, as well as the related ideation to support such goals. Must ensure that tools and systems are effectively applied to planning and buying activities, with the goal of optimizing deliverables and providing solid rationale to recommendations. This position will have day-to-day relationships with senior client leaders and serves as the key contact for partner agencies. Preference is for bilingual (English/French) candidate.

Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Client and Partner Relationships

  • Manage all aspects of the client business providing superior customer service while maximizing business opportunities
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics of internal team performance
  • Consult with clients to define their performance goals to achieve their business results
  • Oversee project plans, scope of work, and timelines to ensure deliveries for clients and internal projects
  • Provide strategic input to manage and develop campaigns with various strategies, such as, prospecting, remarketing, contextual targeting to meet client goals as needed
  • Oversee all strategic channel planning activities associated with assigned account(s)
  • Lead development of key planning objectives and strategies that align with the client’s marketing direction
  • The identification and strategic application of new opportunities and testing
  • Oversee optimization of media programs to continually meet client objectives
  • Develop, maintain and refine trusted relationships and service levels that bridge key client and partner stakeholders
  • Proactively identify and solve client risks before they escalate
  • Base all decisions on empirical data using appropriate analytical techniques and with a strong appreciation of where assumptions are being made
  • Demonstrate thought leadership for your clients, internal team and the overall industry
  • Actively incorporate tools into client planning process/lead workshops in Facilitator role
  • Provide effective analysis to support marketing recommendations
  • Review and provide feedback on overarching channel strategies including Search, SEO, Social, eCommerce, and Programmatic media
  • Drive visibility and positive reputation of the direct business team through participation in industry events, associations, speaking engagements and other networking opportunities.

P&L Accountability

  • Own your team’s P&L
  • Identify and improve account profitability, billings and revenue from direct business
  • Manage budgets and re-forecast as necessary

Coaching, Training, Mentoring and Team Growth

  • Developing staff plans and monitoring hours to ensure adequate service levels
  • Fostering professional development through coaching and mentoring for direct reports
  • Serving as a positive role model with a strong work ethic and vigorously reviewing all work to ensure high quality standard
  • Proactively keep abreast of industry trends and share knowledge with team

What You Will Need:

  • 12+ years of direct media agency experience with an emphasis on digital strategies and execution
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the beauty or luxury category managing a large global client
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management, or related field
  • Proven account management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service
  • Superior verbal and written skills with outstanding presentation ability
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Experience leading cross functional project teams across the organization
  • Adaptable to change
  • Demonstrated supervisory, delegation and strong mentorship skills
