Shopify’s innovative products are changing the commerce landscape, and our team is writing a new chapter in Shopify’s growth story. As a Senior Partnership Manager - Canada, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a bulk acquisition strategy - focused on SMB merchants - through public and private partnerships. The objective of this role is to drive bulk acquisition of new merchants onto the Shopify platform through public and private partnerships across Canada. While sourcing and closing new partnerships is the key focus, building sales enablement plans with partners is also an important aspect of the role.
You'll be working on things like:
Strategic & Operational Planning (15%)
Outlining a strategic roadmap for bulk merchant acquisitions across Canada, considering all partner types available in region
Developing an operational plan to implement defined strategy
Owning the delivery of the targets (net new merchant acquisition)
Business Development & GTM Strategies through external public/private partnerships (65%)
Conducting outreach and negotiating packages with government, private, non-profit, and education, and non-profit organization.
In partnership with regional marketing teams, co-develop local strategies for co-marketing with these partners, including integrated marketing campaigns, digital activations, virtual and field events, and content.
Implementing actionable sales enablement plans with partners to drive merchant engagement and acquisition
Partner & Program Management (20%)
Developing regional playbooks (processes and rules of engagement) as the conduit between the global & regional partnerships teams
Creating and monitoring merchant acquisition driving strategies that can be scaled across multiple partners and partner types
Developing infrastructure to be able to deliver on strategies
Assess the effectiveness of your regional initiatives. Report on success metrics, insights, and recommendations
Manage regional budget, financial models, performance metrics and tracking systems for regular analysis and reporting
Considerable experience in sales, business development and/or partnerships, with experience working across government and the non-profit sectors a plus
Experience in operationally building out processes & infrastructure, especially building programs from scratch
Ability to thrive in uncertainty, resolve ambiguity and think quickly on your feet
Experience in developing unique agreements
Excellent communication and organizational skills while being able to stay focused on the big picture and pay attention to details
Knowledge of how to develop go-to-market strategies with multiple types of organizations
Ability to uncover and develop opportunities from scratch
Experience in B2B sales is a plus
