Sales Engineer

A Sales Engineer supports members of the Sales Team in providing engineered solutions for new sales opportunities. He/She will be responsible for researching and defining complex solutions for the Sales Team. This person will also be responsible for participating in company sales presentations, and some pre-sales project assessment walk-throughs.

Job Description

The primary role of the Sales Engineer is to provide custom solutions based on the design needs defined and communicated by the Sales Team. This requires constant exposure to new technologies and design options. Design solutions need to be defined in a timely manner. He/She must be able to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both the Sales Team and Customer as needed. They must be able to design and capture supporting engineered drawings through AutoCAD/Adobe Illustrator/Visio. They will need to participate in Sales Presentations to customers. They must be able to attend some pre-sales job walk-throughs and capture detailed notes of the customer needs and site conditions. This role will be responsible for researching and evaluating new technology.


  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to understand and define customer requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with the customer to define technical requirements and provide the products and solutions to meets the customer’s specific needs.
  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations and sales presentations that explain key technical aspects of solutions that will benefit customers and prospects.
  • Provide answers to client/prospect questions regarding our products, services, and other technical aspects of our company.
  • Be able to think critically and suggest improvements to system design that may lead to cost savings or other client benefits.
  • Research the industry on an on-going basis to know what changes may be on the horizon that will impact current and future sales.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of company products, understanding of technical specifications, and the expertise to understand customer requirements.
  • Always represent the company in the best light.
  • Understand our company’s goals and purpose so that you continually enhance the company’s performance.
  • Create detailed custom solutions with supporting documents in the form of engineered drawings from AutoCAD/Visio/Adobe Illustrator.
  • Multi-tasking is essential and capability of handling deadlines on a continuous basis is a must.
  • Capable of thinking on your feet to discuss code requirements with a good understanding of all local jurisdiction code requirements.
  • Must exude a positive attitude, confidence, patience, and a humble personality.


  • Strong ability to quickly comprehend and explain complex engineering concepts in simple, effective terms.
  • Ability to work in concert with the Sales Team to build effective presentations that blend technical facts with tangible benefits to the customer.
  • Superlative communication skills with the ability to navigate a wide range of internal and external environments.
  • Ability to work in a wide range of software programs that support our business (Excel, WeSuite, CAD, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Understanding of the Sales Life Cycle and the importance of executing tasks in a timely manner within the Sales Life Cycle.
  • 10 years of experience in installing, servicing, and designing integrated security systems.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Must have excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Possess strong customer telephone skills, and exceptional customer service is a must.
  • Familiar with major manufacturers of access control and CCTV systems.
  • Full understanding and working knowledge of all equipment related to the industry.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Must have a professional work ethic, be articulate and also use good independent judgement and discretion.
  • Must be able to work overtime if needed.
  • Must be able to multitask and adapt in a change environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
