A network technician is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining plans for moderately complex networks supporting election tabulation installation projects to assure hardware and software products are installed/implemented/maintained in accordance with customer expectations of effective performance and reliability. This position works with the Senior Project Manager, and state and county level customers to plan, implement, and maintain local and wide area networks and applies professional principles, practices and technical techniques which facilitate resource allocation, project schedules, expense control, and quality to ensure effective and efficient product implementations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The successful candidate is required to possess networking experience operating in Windows based client server/host workstation LAN/WAN environment. Specifically, comfortable with troubleshooting and maintaining network connectivity by configuring/maintaining/troubleshooting Windows workstation and server operating systems, routers, firewalls, switches, hubs, capturing and applying systems images, and installing/uninstalling server and workstation applications/utilities.
2. Manage ES&S network implementation projects in association with tabulation, poll book and other products including but not limited to project scope, task assignments, project scope and expense control, and revenue collection for project services rendered.
Reviews client expectations and ensures all deliverables are achieved in accordance with agreed upon project plan including but not limited to product delivery, installation, training and delivery of ES&S proprietary and 3rd party software, licenses and their compliance, network connectivity coordination, and hardware components.
3. Effectively communicates and collaborates with an array of stakeholders including but not limited to the account management team, technical services team, sales, , manufacturing, training, field services, , shipping, , technical services, and engineering. ; and external stakeholders that include State, county and municipal government officials and staff including Secretaries of State. The technician must communicate effectively to understand expectations and reconcile and resolve technical network issues that are in alignment with customer and contract specifications.
4. Develop and implement technical project plans using techniques that facilitate effective communications. Requirements:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in a computer technology field and work toward a master’s degree in a related field is preferred;
Experience: At least 3 years network and technical experience including:
Maintaining LAN/WAN networks in a client-server environment
Proficiency with system imaging tools, modifying router/firewall configuration, mapping network drives, command-line network troubleshooting techniques, installing/removing hard disk drives, and computer components (RAM, TPM chips).
The leadership of projects including sound decision making and direct management of management teams
Domain and industry knowledge of elections preferred
Proficiency with MS Project, and other workflow and/or project management tools is preferred
Competencies: Proven networking skills and ability to work remotely within a team environment
Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with Tier II and Tier III technical support remotely
Strong interpersonal and consultative ability to influence others
Well developed organizational ability
Technical Troubleshooting/ Problem Solving/Analysis
Travel: Approximately 40% travel is expected.
Licenses/Certifications Required: An industry-recognized network certification is preferred.
