Senior Systems Engineer - Sensors

Duties & Responsibilities

This role will be tasked with evaluating sensor performance for automotive applications:

  • Work on cutting-edge sensor technology for automotive perception used in L3-L5 systems
  • Integrate new sensors in unified testing environment to objectively characterize performance and potential
  • Develop new test methods to quantify a sensors/an algorithms performance
  • Analyze and document test data
  • Actively participate in technical discussions and present findings from technical assessments
  • Come up with new ideas for perception solutions and/or product ideas leveraging latest sensor innovation
  • Working knowledge of applied statistics
  • Work with software engineers and machine learning engineers to develop new concepts of how sensor innovation can be used for more effective and safer automated driving functions


Education and Skills Requirements

Preferred background

  • MS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Science, CS or related technical discipline
  • Good understanding of active sensing technologies and computer vision/image processing
  • Experience in 3D reconstruction using passive technologies (monocular SLAM, stereo imaging, etc)
  • Experience designing operational performance tests of for sensor systems
  • Experience with 3D visualization tools
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly document and communicate test findings
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at the same time with proven success in meeting deadlines

Software Skills

  • Programming languages/tools: C++, Python, LaTex, Bash, Cmake, Git, Linux
  • Programming concepts: Data filters/pipelines, Multi-threading, GPU programming
  • Communication protocols/networks: UDP/TCP, CAN
  • Open source libraries: OpenCV, OpenGL, Open3D, CUDA, PCL
