Your role
This is a temporary role for a period of 1 year.
Cognos Business Analyst analyzes client’s needs and designs computer and business solutions aimed at optimum use of the corporation’s material and BI resources. Applies knowledge of the business systems, processes and industry best practices in supporting database and BI integrations with software. Designing dashboards/reports to meet goals and objectives of clients business needs. Plans, analyzes and develops enhancements to reports to ensure system integrity and continuity. Ensure continuous innovative, creative systems and solutions are implemented, documented and communicated to clients through multiple channels including meetings, status reports and formal training.
Activity
  • Applies knowledge of business systems, business processes, user and industry requirements to facilitate technical/process solutions needed to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Assigns priorities or negotiates priorities with clients, based on assessment of tasks within support and maintenance plans.
  • Ensures integrity of existing production systems through ongoing production system support.
  • Documents and explains the business processes and user needs.
  • Researches, analyzes and documents business requirements for new systems and/or enhancements/changes to existing ones of medium to high complexity. Analyzes and documents business process flows, inputs/outputs, functionality and performance requirements.
  • Provides ongoing support and responding to issues of functionality raised by clients, resolving problems through instruction on using the system and/or liaison with technical staff.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders. Works closely with business process owners and users to maintain a detailed understanding of business processes, market standards and user needs and to liaise between technical staff and clients.
  • Advance knowledge of: SQL, VBA, API Integration, Cognos Analytics.
  • Produces Cognos system documentation, training material and user guides.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Community college or University degree.
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience working with IBM Cognos Analytics 11 , testing required.
  • Knowledge of systems development and project life cycle methodologies.
  • Must continually learn new skills and acquire new business and technical knowledge.
