Description
The primary role of the Account Manager is to obtain new, and strengthen existing, customer relationships by providing tailored, timely and professional refuse and recycling-related customer service to new and existing accounts.
Essential Responsibilities
- Increase revenue by managing sales prospects and developing new accounts by establishing business relationships built on trust and excellent customer service.
- Retain major accounts by fielding customer inquiries and requests while providing superior, needs-based service and solutions.
- Meet sales and retention goals as set by management.
- Provide oversight, training and mentorship to junior account manager associates.
- Use related computer systems to track sales prospects, establish new service, compile detailed notes and develop sales-related reporting.
- Work in conjunction with management, operations, customer service, dispatch and sustainability departments to ensure seamless customer interactions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Superior customer service, sustainability and sales-related techniques and etiquette.
- Refuse, recycling and composting-related services and tools.
- Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Search Engines and Google Maps.
- Geography of the City of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
Ability to:
- Actively listen to, and empathize with, customer concerns.
- Employ de-escalation and conflict-resolution methodologies.
- Mentor and maintain a positive attitude with customers and coworkers.
- Proactively establish trust and credibility with customers and coworkers by maintaining accountability.
- Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
- Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.
- Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
- Learn the products and services offered by Universal Waste Systems, Inc.
- Provide guidance and expert advice on waste-related information.
Education, Training & Experience
- Five years of related experience in waste, recycling or sustainability required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
