Flood and Peterson is looking for an Account Assistant to join our Surety team!

The Account Assistant is a perfect role for someone looking to start a career or branch out in the insurance industry. Starting out supporting our Surety Account Manager, you'll have the chance to learn the industry from the ground up in our comprehensive training program - this role has excellent growth potential! Attention to detail, integrity, customer-service, and the willingness to continuously learn are all crucial in this role. Construction industry experience is a plus. Account Assistants need to have or obtain a Colorado Property & Casualty Insurance License, but we will provide the opportunity for training and licensure for the right candidate.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist Risk Advisor and Client Service Team in servicing and retaining of surety accounts. Work to ensure that client retention goals are met by responding promptly and accurately to requests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for account servicing needs including but not limited to bonds, continuation certificates, reference letters, riders, invoicing, audits, etc.
  • Responsible for preparation of bonds and related documents
  • Process all bonds, error free
  • Proof all bonds before they leave the premises
  • Advise Sales Executive, Account Executive or Account Manager of needed information
  • Prepare bonds for delivery to client
  • Assist in information analysis, renewal process and completion of surety documents
  • Set-up and maintain client and surety files
  • Prepare agreements and applications, as needed
  • Process and invoice renewals reviewed by Account Manager or Account Executive
  • Responsible for integrity of bond data in Agency Management and Surety Systems
  • Comply with and follow corporate and Department workflow procedures and guidelines
  • Provide outstanding customer service (both internally and externally) and seek to improve whenever possible
  • Keep Supervisor/Manager informed in all matters that may affect the performance of assigned tasks and/or overall operations of the Department
  • Navigate proficiently in all Agency Management and Surety Systems
  • Attend and participate in training and educational courses to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as requested

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but is expected to mentor new team members and lower level positions. Inform Supervisor/Manager of all matters that may give rise to an E&O claim.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

At Flood and Peterson all full time employees are eligible for benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance, paid time off, paid extended leave (including parental leave), paid holidays, and paid Volunteer Time Off. Full time employees are also eligible to participate in our excellent 401k program, which includes both safe harbor and discretionary matching. We also offer several other voluntary insurance programs including expanded Life, Disability, Accident, Critical Illness/Event, Paycheck Protection, and Legal. In addition to regular pay, this position is eligible to participate in our annual performance incentive program. Bonuses may be available for client and employee referrals and for successful completion of approved industry designations.

Starting pay for this NON-EXEMPT position is $20.00 - 23.00 / hour. Pay may exceed this range for well-qualified candidates, commensurate with experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

This position requires use of the following software or applications:

Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Internet, Email, Database and Order Processing

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (if applicable)

  • Current or obtain Colorado Property & Casualty Insurance License within 3 months of hire date
  • Requires current Colorado driver’s license and acceptable MVR
