    SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
    Sales and Event planning for the social market including weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and bar/bat mitzvahs. Event Sales Manager will utilize all tools and resources of the position including event software, yield management techniques, best customer service practices, up-selling unique and mission-based products, and teamwork. Create optimal experience for all customers through analysis of needs and budget and creatively applying the resources, products, and facilities of The Henry Ford.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Responsible for managing revenue goals (selling and planning) as outlined in annual plan.
    • Responds to all inquiries and leads, handles initial inquiries in efficient manner, and consistently follow-up with personal phone call, printed material, customized letters, and other appropriate materials.
    • Secures date and facility to best suit customer needs, arrange for customer to view facilities, and discuss options. Provides printed menus and other appropriate sales materials.
    • Creates and maintains Delphi and hard file of client information, billing and payment processes, planning notes, and event details associated with all aspects of event.
    • Works with customers to evaluate their event needs, be creative in reviewing and customizing menu, programs, and experiences to suit customers’ needs. Must be flexible to work within customer budget, yet meet minimum requirements set by The Henry Ford.
    • Contacts vendor services, both internal and external, and negotiates services to meet event needs. Responsible for making recommendations to Team Leader of service providers, and for keeping abreast of industry standards and trends to enable team to provide the best possible service.
    • Contributes to internal communication efforts by participating in necessary meetings and utilizing scheduling vehicles to convey necessary information.
    • Responsible for attending a variety of events, coordinated by self and peers. Greets customers and guests, inspects events, observes operations, and makes recommendations for improvements.
    • Performs other activities as necessary.
    • Contributes to the effective team management of all problems, issues, and opportunities.
    • Acts as a team player, providing expertise within the team and with other team members, as appropriate.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    Two to four years’ college education preferred, and 4 years’ experience in sales environment. Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, and database software required. Data entry precision at 50 wpm preferred. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including required evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    SPECIAL SKILLS
    Ability to work creatively with the public and high-level clients as well as all levels of management. Solid verbal and written communication skills, adept telephone manner, and proven leadership ability. Self-starter, ability to work independently, highly motivated. Ability to learn Delphi event management system.
