Job Description

Serves as the single point of contact and energy expert with our largest key customers on energy related issues including, but not limited to account management, collections, products, and services, issues and complaints, new service, and usage. Promotes the sale and/or delivery of energy, street and area lighting and other products and services to trade allies, commercial, industrial, and municipal customers. Provides technical support and data analysis, load information data and policy interpretation. Mentors the Key Account Manager position. Functions as team lead for various customer and internal projects and initiatives. Leads negotiations with customers on a variety of tariff, rate, and service issues. Serves as subject matter expert in certain business areas. Supports company emergency restoration efforts in lead roles. Frequent interaction with Senior Management.

Manages Company contact and response with assigned commercial, industrial, and municipal customers. Leads investigation and resolution of customer inquiries regarding pricing, billing, payment, issues and complaints, new service, and usage. Leads team of subject matter experts from throughout the corporation to resolve complex, technical customer issues related to reliability, power quality and service upgrades related to customer growth. Develops and recommends solutions to customer issues. Utilizes knowledge of energy technologies and equipment related to company and customer operations to provide comprehensive solutions to customer and company issues. Provides rate and billing analysis and response to usage, rate, deposit, fraud, and metering issues both internally and to customers. Provides exceptional customer service and timely resolution to assigned customers as their single point of contact. Annually complete FERC Code of Conduct training and comply with code of conduct regulations when interacting with the supply, transmission, and other applicable functional groups in the company. Proactively manages relationships to support achievement of regulatory targets in areas such as energy efficiency, economic development, customer satisfaction and complaints. Supports achievement of corporate targets for sales growth and retention (electric and natural gas). Leads collection efforts for the company’s largest customers to minimize financial risk to the company. Creates revenue growth and retention by taking a lead role in significant capital projects and contract negotiations that are required to serve customers. Recommends solutions to Senior Management and keeps them informed of critical customer issues. Interacts with PUC staff. Leads street and area lighting sales, service, and support. Serves as subject matter expert by exploring technology changes related to lighting. Promotes product and services programs and provides technical support to customers for these programs. Supports storm restoration activities and leads communications with key customers. Lead role as liaison with state and local officials/municipalities/key customers and company during emergency events. Represents the Company at various meetings, functions, and events. Presents issues of critical importance to the Company through speaking engagements at various public and municipal forums. Provides coverage for manager as needed.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience preferred

Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience required


Valid Driver’s License


Advanced customer relationship skills

Demonstrated project management experience

Knowledge of electric technologies

Strong computer application skills

Strong written and oral communication skills

Attention to detail and strong analytic skills

Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties. This is applicable to employees that will work in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York within AVANGRD Network and Corporate functions. This does not include those that will work for Avangrid Renewables
