Job Description – Operations Manager

Summary/Objective

The Branch Operations Manager is responsible for directing the activities of the installers with an emphasis on product quality, on-time delivery, cost and production efficiency. The Manager is responsible for supporting the key business metrics, inside sales, general housekeeping, and workplace safety. In addition, the Manager is responsible for the training and development of employees and ensuring they are adhering to handbook guidelines and rules. The Branch Operations Manager will also be responsible for the future growth of the Bay Area market.

Production, Facilities and Maintenance

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures including 5S (6S) requirements.
  • Ensure a work environment exists for employees that provides strong interaction between all team members to effectively communicate concerns regarding production.
  • Identify resource needs with backup data such as time studies, capacity, etc., and ensure the production schedule is met.
  • Set the direction relative to production goals and direct installers and sales to ensure day-to-day production needs are met
  • Ensure Material is handled adequately to avoid damage and/or prevent loss.
  • Ensure all production processes needed to build a quality product are in place and up to date.
  • Responsible for understanding and providing input to Capacity Planning as customer's production demands fluctuate.
  • Determine and communicate the direction relative to housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • Initiate corrective actions as needed to address areas of opportunity within the production floor.
  • Ensure cycle counts are performed as needed to keep WIP counts accurate.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to direct supervisor.
  • Provide leadership and manage the branch; make decisions in the best interest of the company; solve problems; help develop departmental procedures and conduct meetings.
  • Manage employees and team performance; train or provide adequate training for employees; coach, counsel and motivate employees; evaluate employees; investigate complaints or performance concerns; implement disciplinary action as needed and in consultation with direct supervisor and Human Resources.
  • Approve leave and overtime; complete and/or review attendance records; accept resignations; initiate terminations; process layoff actions, create and monitor employee improvement plans. Address and resolve employee concerns.
  • Attend and participate in all meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Financial and Administrative

  • Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as financial statements, payroll, personnel, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies, and other clerical services.
  • Adheres to procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of hard copy and electronic records.
  • Prepares reports for the guidance of management.
  • Coordinates activities of various departments or employees within departments.
  • Plans office layout and flow, helps develop office budgets, and initiates cost reduction programs.
  • Proficient in professional communication with phone calls, walk-in customers, and vendors.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, ERP Systems and general e-mail communications.

Sales

  • Maintains contact with customers and outside vendors.
  • Works with and supports inside and outside sales representatives when required.
  • Handles customer sales as needed (on phone or in person).
  • Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in the area.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment required.
  • Sound working knowledge of lean manufacturing with demonstrated team participation and/or leadership and related continuous improvement successes.
  • Experience in leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with reading and interpreting data (data driven analysis)
  • Work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to utilize general office equipment: Computer, telephone, copy machine, and more.

Work Environment

Work area includes all areas of the facility. Primary work area is a clean, professional, climate-controlled retail environment. Will be required to talk with employees and or work in the shop area throughout the day - and this area is not climate controlled.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The position involves sitting, walking, and lifting less than 20 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The standard hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional days or work hours may be required in the daily management of the business.

Required Education and Experience

  • A valid state driver’s license and clean driving record is a requirement to drive our vehicles.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must be able to read, understand, follow, and explain detailed written instructions, policies, and company procedures as provided.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in a branch management role
  • Experience managing the performance and direction of others.

Salary: $95,000.00 per year + Bonus Incentives
