Job Description

Joist is seeking a Product Analyst who will work with product managers, company leadership and cross-functionally to ensure that we have the right data and proactive insights to deliver high quality, engaging, and intuitive products and services that drive results.


Are you interested in driving business and product strategy? What about using data to answer difficult questions and come up with powerful insights? As a Product Analyst at Joist , you will use your quantitative skills, obsession and empathy towards customers and collaborative spirit to work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance and Customer Success to provide data-driven insights to find new opportunities to take our products to the next level. You will be responsible for helping the Product teams build evidence-based roadmaps, providing a consistent and proactive flow of data-driven insights to fuel ideation and learning and to help the team solve user problems and achieve targeted KPIs. This role has high exposure within the company as you will often be working with senior leadership.

The Joist head office is located on Adelaide street in Toronto (Ontario, Canada), but the role can be fully-remote in Canada (with occasional trips to Toronto, when it’s safe to do so).


  • Work with the Product Teams to understand their needs and requirements.

  • Develop and maintain SaaS & payment product metrics and dashboards in Looker for the product teams, in addition to ad hoc analysis from other teams to help drive strategic business decisions.

  • Build robust automated reporting and processes to minimize repetitive work.

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer journey phases and key business metrics

  • Inform future product features and design by performing proactive exploratory analysis to understand user engagement behaviour and derive insights

  • Help with strategic product planning

  • Translate complex concepts into implications for the business via excellent communication skills, both verbal and written


  • 2+ years of business intelligence/analytics/data science experience

  • Ability and experience in extracting insights from data, and summarizing learnings / takeaways

  • Proven track record of being able to work independently and proactively engage with business partners with minimal direction

  • Experience with front-end web analytical tools

  • Experience with data visualization tools

  • Experience querying relational databases directly

  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts

  • Detail-oriented while considering the big picture.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Nice to have: Bachelors’ or above in quantitative field: Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
