The Opportunity

Roche Diagnostics has created a new business area charged with building a modern software stack that will improve the processes, clinical decision support and lab operations in healthcare. Our challenge is to bring together complex diagnostic and treatment data from medical devices and IT systems within healthcare institutions and hospitals, and intelligently process and present this data to doctors and healthcare providers to improve patient care. In addition, this team will get to work side by side with a team of world-class healthcare providers and researchers who want to impact global healthcare delivery.

Job Facts

This is a newly created role and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the remit of the team as it evolves. The Solution Architect has accountability for defining and executing the technical strategy for onboarding new customers and will be responsible for technical implementation and integration of Roche Digital Solution and Customer IT Landscape. You will ensure that the Roche application is properly deployed at customer sites, and that implementations create an exceptional customer experience.

As a member of our Team you will play a key role in helping to shape the future of this new organization within Roche Diagnostics.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Strategy: Work collaboratively with sales team, marketing, and product departments to help define and execute technical sales strategy. Support pre-sales activities including on-site customer visits and technical strategy sessions. Responsible for helping sales team close with prospective customers.

  • Onboarding new customer sites: Evaluate and respond to Requests for Proposal (RFP). Build relationships through having a detailed understanding of prospect requirements and communicating your understanding of those requirements, displaying a level of expertise that sets the prospective customers at ease. Support development of Statements of Work (SOW) to deliver on prospective customer requirements.

  • Managing our external vendors: Collaborate with external vendors offering integration support, including assignment of work to the partners.

  • Leadership: Enable a culture that values technical excellence together with support for individuals.

  • Vision: Shape the future roadmap of the business by investigating new technology, implementing proof of concepts, and proposing innovative new solutions.

  • Travel: Occasional travel (up to 50%) to customer or Roche sites to support business needs.

Who You Are

We are looking for candidates with a deep understanding of modern SaaS architecture to help build with customers their healthcare ecosystem, and with the ability to influence the solution. You should bring innovations, demonstrate initiative, and be capable of functioning independently toward clear business objectives with limited direct guidance.

Moreover you bring:


  • B.S. in Computer Science, or closely related discipline required. M.S. in Computer Science or closely related discipline preferred;

  • 5+ years direct experience in a closely related field may be substituted.

  • Key certifications are a plus, including but not necessarily limited to: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, etc.

  • TOGAF & HL 7 certification will be an added advantage


  • 8+ years of experience in the healthcare informatics domain;

  • Clear track record of successfully deployed and supported enterprise-scale, cloud applications in a leadership role;

  • Must have operational experience supporting both single and multi-tenant SaaS solutions;

  • Deep understanding of interoperability (e.g. IHE, HL7v2, HL7 FHIR, DICOM, HIE, etc.), cloud computing technology and solutions (AWS), and privacy and security;

  • Must have experience working with and owning relationships with external partners, managing to KPIs and SLAs;

  • Strong project management experience and qualifications;

  • Excellent communication skills. Able to respond to RFP’s, author SOW’s, and develop technical proposals. Outstanding presentation skills;

  • Proven ability to take insights from customers and translate them into technical deliverables;

  • Proven ability to manage escalations, defusing emotions and delivering difficult messages sensitively.
