Ayres is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to join our growing Environmental team within our Development Services Division.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth and be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other technical leads providing technical support for site investigation, groundwater monitoring, remediation, and regulatory compliance projects, with a heavy emphasis on Brownfield work. Our Brownfield team members are cutting edge innovators, having remediated and redeveloped hundreds of Brownfield sites across the nation resulting in many state, regional and national awards for our work.
On any given day, you’ll:
- Apply your knowledge and develop new skills while working on challenging and often complex projects.
- Support environmental compliance and remediation-related projects in the field and office.
- Perform a variety of field work including environmental assessments and investigations, site inspections, soil, vapor, and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, and subcontractor oversight.
- Evaluate and interpret data and prepare technical reports that include figures, tables, and ancillary documentation in support of project deliverables.
- Travel locally or nationally on short-term field assignments.
- Schedule and monitor project work to ensure successful completion and positive financial performance of each deliverable.
- Assist team members with research and writing of various technical grants related to redevelopment of Brownfield projects.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in geology or environmental earth science.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- A minimum of one year of relevant environmental consulting or regulatory experience in areas of investigation, soil, or groundwater sampling, and/or environmental technical report development.
- Demonstrated work experience in any of the following areas: Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site hydrogeologic sampling and evaluation, environmental compliance and permitting (solid waste, stormwater, SPCC, etc.), Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and site investigations.
- Willingness to travel in and out-of-state (some overnight stays).
- Excellent technical writing, data management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, navigate remote sites over uneven surfaces, and the willingness to work outside up to 25% of the time.
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Ability to work independently and in teams and transition seamlessly between different types of projects.
Desired skills and experience:
- Working knowledge of state (Colorado/Wyoming) and federal environmental regulations (NEPA/WEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, SPCC, etc.).
- Experience managing environmental project tasks (field and office).
- One to three years of environmental consulting or regulatory experience.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER health and training certificate (with up-to-date annual refresher course certification).
- Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) inspector certification.

Our good-faith compensation approach is fair and equitable, and takes into consideration only permissible factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, training, skills, and experience, and geographic location where the work is performed. A salary range for this posting is $55000 - $75000. The foregoing salary range represents what the company believes, in good-faith, it will pay for the posted opportunity. The individual selected for this role will be evaluated with the compensation factors in mind and placed appropriately.
