Job Summary

This position manages the Federal Services Electrical Engineering department, including but not limited to: resource management and alignment in support of project requirements, developing and implementing engineering strategies, and providing influence for scope of responsibilities within the department while having ultimate responsibility for electrical design execution on assigned projects. This department manager will be part of a multidisciplined team that leverages core excellence in traditional federal capabilities and programs to continue increasing our market share; rapidly adjust service offerings to anticipate and posture for emerging market conditions. Must be a Citizen of the United States of America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively provides guidance and direction on all department personnel with a focus on aligning resources to project needs.
  • Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, compensation management, succession planning, disciplinary actions, employee relations and workforce planning.
  • Influences and implements resource management strategy. Manages engineering resources and applicable technical requirements. Common responsibilities include staffing, recruiting, budgets, tools and/or processes. Resolves resource conflicts and identifies training needs.
  • Accountable for managing engineering design-related aspects for projects within a range of size and complexity, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, and coordination of design, procurement, and construction.
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating and developing engineering standards.
  • Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects or disciplines.
  • Establishes related processes and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality.
  • Supports and may lead continuous improvement, change management and risk management efforts.
  • Serves as a technology leader and is recognized as a Company/industry expert within a discipline or specialty. May develop innovative solutions critical to company success.
  • Orchestrates all technical aspects of highly complex projects and makes project engineering execution decisions within the bounds set by applicable policies, standards, guides and contract commitments.
  • Establishes work plans to be applied on all given projects.
  • Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on highly complex projects.
  • Responsible for coordinating project schedules for multiple disciplines.
  • Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
  • Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on complex projects.
  • Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively developed, implemented, and communicated for workgroup. Ensures adherence to corporate and division programs.
  • Approves timesheets and expense reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degreed License Electrical Engineer
  • LEED accredited professional
  • Federal industry design experience strongly preferred
  • Prior people management and project leadership experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving expertise
  • Professional communication skills in all mediums
  • Solution-focused mindset

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 15 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration
