Job Description

Title: Director of Sales
Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Vice-President
Created Date: April 2021
The Director of sales is responsible for managing the day to day sales activity of their region and sales team, sales revenue, location administrative responsibilities at their assigned locations. Duties will include, but not be limited to, creating and implementing a market specific sales strategy for their area, and profitably managing dealership operations including new and used bus sales, leasing and rentals. Position is a combination of personal sales and a sales management role.
Essential Functions
  • Plan, coordinate and manage all sales operations in perspective markets.
  • Implement business plan for profitability for your region.
  • Achieve a personal sales gross profit target and maintain a top 10 account list for their region.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing program and recommend improvements.
  • Develop strategies to improve overall quality and productivity which includes weekly ride a long’s with sales staff and required use of Sales Force to track calls and maintain customer contacts.
  • Generate sales and employee reports to management.
  • Schedule regular team meetings to discuss business updates, issues and recommendations.
  • Ensure each team members knows their sales and professional goals and have a plan to achieve it.
  • Determine staffing requirements and ensure that positions are filled promptly.
  • Responsible for employee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, promotion and termination activities.
  • Provide sales direction and guidance to employees in their assigned job duties.
  • Respond to employee concerns in timely manner.
  • Ensure that employees follow company policies and procedures.
  • Address customer inquiries and leads promptly and professionally and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify business opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Strong communication, team building and customer service skills required.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Five years or more sales experience, preferably regional
  • Prior Sales and Management experience required
