Looking for Provo tech sales jobs? Well, the city of Provo, Utah, is one of the most promising within the tech industry and has been for years. So much so that the city is part of the area known as Silicon Slopes”.

While not quite as famous as Silicon Valley, the Silicon Slopes are proving to be one of the hottest places in the world of tech sales and software development to start a new career.

The Silicon Slopes is the spot for Provo tech sales jobs.

Provo tech sales jobs are in high demand. Let's break down the reasons why!

A Growing Tech Industry

The city has a workforce generating $19.1 billion. This represents 12-15% of the State's economy. Making Utah's tech job market is one of the strongest in the nation. Provo leads its charge thanks to an unemployment rate that's among the lowest in the United States at 1.9 percent.

The national average of less than 20% growth for tech employment being well below that of this city. Provo is a promising place for graduates across the country.

Provo is fortunate enough to be supplied with graduates from top local schools, including Brigham Young University. This makes it a local nexus of talent, and as such, an attractive place for employers that seek it.

Between 2000 and 2019, the number of engineering and computer science graduates in Utah increased by 115% and 147% respectively. Both outpaced national growth over the same period.

These rates have seen an increase in overall diversity. There has been a 10% increase in the number of students of color graduating with a computer science or engineering degree over the past 2 decades.

Big Tech Companies

The reason for this growth is down to the myriad of tech companies that have their home — or one of their homes — in Provo.

One example is Qualtrics, the tech unicorn” that was purchased by German company SAP for $8 billion. The company was valued with a market cap of over $6.13 billion. They had an excellent close to Q3 2022 and a revenue growth increase of 39% year over year.

Other major companies within the scope of tech employment that have a base in Provo include Adobe, Vivint, and SimpleCitizen.

Major tech companies in Provo include Adobe, Vivint and SimpleCitizen.

Aside from commercial tech employers, Provo also benefits from a lot of investment from the US Air Force. With Hill Air Force Base nearby, there was the development of a $35 million facility. There are roles there specifically designed for the development of software for jets. This resulted in a significant number of tech jobs for professionals in the city.

Significant Tech Job Growth

Provo's tech sector experienced job growth of more than 5% between 2018 and 2019. Provo made up a large part of Utah's 238,400 new full- and part-time jobs in 2020. The city was at the top in Milken’s Best-Performing Cities Report in 2021, beating out San Francisco and San Jose yet again.

Thus, the booming tech industry in Provo makes it an attractive place for other companies and startups. With such a high rate of tech job growth, it’s only natural that these employers will be looking for - and willing to pay top dollar for - the best talent available.

A 2020 report showed that Provo, Utah engineering jobs earn an average annual salary of $96,000, while positions in computer science make $89,500. Both of these are significantly higher than the average income of the State - $47,000.

And if that wasn't enough, graduates with engineering and computer science degrees in Provo have been shown to earn 31% more after four years and 59% more after eight. With these kinds of numbers, it's easy to understand why the tech job market in Provo is booming.

An Excellent Place To Live And Work

House prices in Provo have grown by more than 10.5% over the past year, and have been climbing steadily for the past decade. The city ranks well in terms of affordability with a cost-of-living index of 86.8, which is less than the 2022 average across the United States.

Provo offers an excellent quality of life, with plenty of outdoor activities and entertainment options within a short drive. It has a low crime rate and excellent public transportation, making it easy for residents to get around. Provo also boasts an excellent school system, with a range of top-tier universities and colleges, as well as several private academic institutions.

Roughly 117,000 citizens currently call Provo home, making it the third-largest city in the state. It’s also one of the safest cities in Utah and has a very low unemployment rate. With an educated population, plentiful job opportunities, and a low cost of living, it’s no wonder that the city is experiencing rapid growth — both inside and outside of tech jobs.
