Job Description

The Events and Outreach Assistant will play a critical role in organizing and delivering events that foster engagement and collaboration with Indigenous membership and stakeholders on environmental issues. The events will focus on species at-risk awareness, conservation, training programs, Indigenous Traditional Knowledge (ITK) gathering, and other relevant activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Indigenous communities, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

This individual will work with NBAPC’s Natural Resources Manager and Event Coordinator to develop and implement an event schedule, and engage our membership, stakeholders, partners, and funders.

The NBAPC is looking for one Events and Outreach Assistant. This is a full-time in-person position, $23/hour, 37.5 hours per week starts April 1, 2025, and ends March 31, 2026. Can be extended pending future projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in the planning, organization, and facilitation of events focused on species at risk awareness, conservation initiatives, training, and ITK gathering, and other Indigenous issues.

· Collaborate with Indigenous community leaders, Elders, and stakeholders to ensure culturally respectful and inclusive events.

· Work closely with internal teams to align event goals with broader project objectives.

· Assist in the management of event logistics, including venue selection, scheduling, transportation, catering, and accommodations.

· Facilitate community engagement activities that support knowledge sharing and capacity building.

· Monitor and evaluate event success, gathering feedback from participants for continuous improvement.

· Assist in the preparation of post-event reports and funding applications or reports to project partners.

· Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous partners, government agencies, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

· A degree/diploma in event planning and/or management, environmental science, Indigenous studies, or a related field.

· 1-2 years of experience in event coordination and planning.

· Valid Class 5 License

· Experience in event planning, coordinating, and public speaking, considered an asset.

· Experience engaging with indigenous communities considered an asset.

· Valid First Aid/CPR considered an asset.

· Fluent in English and French considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Flexible language requirement:

  • French not required

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
