Job Description

EV Logistics is a 3rd party logistics services specializing in multiple temperature warehousing and distribution services. With a combined workforce of over 800 employees — one of the largest in the Fraser Valley — EV Logistics operates two distinct distribution centers, providing distribution of fresh, frozen and ambient grocery products to retail stores across Western Canada.

EV Logistics is currently hiring a permanent, full-time Refridgeration Operator. This unionized role will be based out of our Perishable Facility, located at 5016 272 Street, Langley, BC.

Position Title: Power Engineer

Hours of Work:

Friday - Monday, 7:00AM to 3:30 PM ( Wrap around weekends 10/hr. shifts)

OR

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM ( 8/hr. shifts)

Pay Rate:

  • Base Rate of $42.00/hr

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safe operation of an ammonia refrigeration system.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and security of the facility.
  • Responsible for ensuring daily checks on refrigeration equipment are complete.
  • Provide unrestricted access and assistance to all regulating authorities in respect to systems and equipment.
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance programs to minimize disruptions in warehouse operations.
  • Tour the warehouse on a regular basis to ensure equipment and building is safe and supports the warehouse activities.
  • Make recommendations to Chief Operating Engineer and Maintenance Manager on programs and equipment to improve efficiency and meet ongoing customer requirements.
  • Monitor and adjust equipment to lower utility costs.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs along with programs to respond to unexpected or emergency situations.
  • Help direct work of external suppliers who are performing services on company equipment or building envelope as required.
  • Effective, accurate and efficient in all areas of maintenance duties.
  • Operate in compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform maintenance activities such as door repairs, floor repairs, racking repairs, welding and refrigeration knowledge; to designated standards.
  • Safe operation of materials handling equipment and tools within the warehouse.
  • Operation of various warehouse management technology, including CMMS, Info-Link and computerized Delta control systems.
  • Attend work on a regular and reliable basis.
  • General sanitation, housekeeping, and safety is of the utmost importance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: You must be avalid 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Qualification or Refrigeration Operator, registered with Technical Safety BC. OR
  • Must be Red Seal Certified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic and ability to obtain a valid Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerator Operator, registered with Technical Safety BC within 3 months of start date.
  • Valid Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerator Operator, registered with Technical Safety BC considered an asset
  • Mechanical, millwright, electrical and/or welding experience is an asset;
  • 2-4 years’ experience in ammonia refrigeration an asset
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety and health regulations and Technical Safety BC
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work flexible shifts as required and respond to after-hours call outs
  • Knowledge of proper maintenance quality standards and procedures, storage temperature requirements of perishable/frozen products
  • Fully able to operate MHE such as pallet jacks and lift trucks, power tools.
  • Extensive experience using hand and power tools.
  • Have a zero-tolerance mindset with regards to safety, security, and doing the job right the first time.

  • Ability to interact effectively within all levels of the business to support positive customer relationships.
  • To demonstrate competency, applicants will be required to complete an interview process.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $42.00 per hour
