Position Overview
The Sales Representative - Crane Division will be based in Sacramento, CA, and will focus on driving new and used equipment sales within an assigned territory. By developing and maintaining strong client relationships, the Sales Representative will provide tailored solutions to enhance productivity and address the unique needs of customers in the construction, quarry, and industrial sectors. This role also includes the sale of bare rental equipment, positioning Coastline Equipment as a trusted partner for contractors and operators in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Representation: Represent Coastline Equipment in the sale of machinery, including cranes, boom trucks, industrial equipment, and aerial platforms, within the assigned territory.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment features, benefits, and offerings to provide expert guidance and support for customer decision-making.
  • Market Insight: Monitor competitive activity in the territory, providing management with feedback regarding market trends and competitive offerings to adjust sales strategies.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain and update customer profiles, manage sales data, and cultivate relationships with customers to drive repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • Territory Coverage and Outreach: Conduct regular job site visits, make cold calls, and proactively build relationships to expand business within the territory and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain assigned company vehicle and necessary tools to ensure they are in optimal working condition for territory coverage and customer interactions.
  • Closing Sales: Utilize strong negotiation skills to close sales effectively, focusing on value-based selling and meeting customer needs.
  • Financial Solutions: Assist customers with financing options for equipment purchases, staying current on financing products and facilitating the sales process.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in equipment sales, preferably within the construction or industrial sectors.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction equipment and best practices in operations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general internet functions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and customer relationship skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Work Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer needs and territory demands.
  • Sales Management: Ability to interpret and analyze sales reports to support effective territory management.

Preferred Experience

  • Crane Equipment Sales: Experience selling crane equipment or knowledge of heavy machinery in the construction or industrial sectors.
  • Client Relationship Management: Proven success in building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Strategic Planning: Demonstrated ability to organize and plan strategically to manage and grow a sales territory.

Work Environment

  • This is a field-based role, with significant time spent visiting job sites, offices, and client locations within the assigned territory.
  • Travel Requirements: Regular travel within the Sacramento, CA area, with occasional travel to neighboring regions for business development and client engagement.

Reporting Structure

  • This role reports directly to the Sales Manager and works closely with the dealership team, including Parts Specialists, Service Technicians, and the Administrative Team, to provide seamless customer support and service.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Wage: Salary is dependent on experience (DOE).
  • Benefits: Coastline Equipment offers comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and opportunities for professional development. Benefits are available after 90 days of employment.
