Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to develop and manage the North America external distribution business and related markets to meet the overall MPY business growth objectives and to ensure that adequate resources and capability (people and processes) are in place in line with the Akzo Nobel distribution management best practice

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify gaps in the current distribution network and appoint suitable and capable distributors to cover the whole region
  • Lead the implementation of the Distribution Engagement program across the region and the customization of its program toolkit
  • Drive the Global third-party distribution strategy implementation at the regional level
  • Collaborate within the regional team to set and contribute towards the delivery of business strategy for third-party distribution
  • Build an understanding of customer needs and identify how we collaborate with them to build their (and our) business
  • Coordinate regional activity to build strong sales and marketing approaches including best practices, marketing programs, new product introduction, training and development, and joint promotional activities
  • Identify new channels that have the potential to deliver significant growth
  • Collaborate within the global Channel team, sharing best practices and contributing towards the delivery of business strategy of third-party distribution
  • Manage the Chromascan facility

Level of Autonomy

  • Specific customer prices, within strategic guidelines
  • Organize and deploy sales and technical services resources as needed to meet customer and market needs
  • Develop and implement sales strategies, programs, and tactics needed to achieve revenue and margin targets
  • Negotiate all agreements and sign those in line with the relevant authority schedule
  • Add or remove distribution partners as needed to meet customer and market needs
  • Prioritize R&D work requests

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing or a related field
  • 10 years of sales/marketing/distribution experience with documented success. Protective coatings knowledge and background preferred
  • Ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve objectives
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for the benefit of internal and external customer relations
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time

Total Compensation

  • The salary range for these skills is: $135,000 to $155,000 + a 35% Annual Bonus
