Position Overview: The Electrical Engineer works in the engineering team on assigned projects as designated by the Lead Electrical Engineer. Electrical design engineer develops and maintains electrical systems designs and/or components to required specifications, focusing on the economy, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability. They review and confirm design accuracy and match with Codes and project specifications. A good understanding of all engineering disciplines and national and international codes and standards is required. *On-Site Position*
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Generation of electrical concepts and control concepts.
- Electrical and control design of compressors and other systems as required.
- Development of single line diagrams, Electrical load calculations, electrical panel drawings, cable diagrams, site installations diagrams, and interconnection diagrams all to standards of the equipment location.
- Preparation and review of Bills of materials.
- Selection and specification of components.
- Component and cable rating checks to standards.
- Selection of control system per project scope.
- Material requisitions and liaise with manufacturers.
- Check and verify engineering documentation complies with project code and standards.
- Generation of manuals.
- Generation and control of engineering documents as per company procedures.
- Monitor product problems related to electrical and control and identify the root cause of failures/ malfunctioning.
- Uphold product engineering practices for electrical and control products.
- Initiate product/ system improvements.
- Verify equipment is built as per documentation.
- Review and sign project/manufacturing documents to ensure the design is safe and meets code requirements.
- Develop and document Test requirements.
- Create factory acceptance test forms and support for product testing.
- Obtain necessary approval for electrical installations when required.
- Site support of service staff by phone or remote connection.
- Understand market development in the CNG business work with marketing and sales.
- Detail specification of equipment/components used for use in sales literature product specifications.
- Cost estimating when required and cost analysis of projects/products to give direction for cost improvement.
- Analyze client needs and develop project requirements.
- Project engineering for assigned projects. This includes as a minimum:
- Assist in preparation of project scope documents.
- Specification of code and standard requirements.
- Monitor project engineering time schedule and potential problems communicated to the Group Lead.
- Ensure all team members are at all times informed of changes and change control is enforced strictly.
- Liaise with client and installation sub-contractor on overall project when required.
- Perform work in accordance with IMW documented policies and procedures.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
- Verification of the PLC program during testing and modify where required.
- Development of PLC code to meet control philosophy statement.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- Engineering degree or extensive knowledge in electrical engineering or technologist.
- Training in the application of national electrical codes and standards.
- Good knowledge of codes and standards for electrical hazardous classification areas.
- Training in PLC programming is beneficial.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-5+ years in electrical and control system design for compressors or similar systems.
- Project engineering experience for the installation of projects like compressor installations.
- Experience with electrical panel design, installation, building, and commissioning.
- Understanding of compressor systems and reading of piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Creating and documenting test procedures and results.
PHYSICAL:
- Required to communicate with production staff, project team, clients, and vendors.
- Be able to communicate formally on behalf of the company verbally and in writing.
- Understand contract language.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Familiar with Microsoft Visio, SolidWorks, Electrical schematics, Drawing, and calculation software.
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiar with ERP systems.
CERTIFICATES/LICENCES/PERMITS:
- BC driver's license.
- Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in BC.
