Business Development Manager

About the Role

As the Business Development Manager for Independent Electrical Contractors of Oregon (IEC of Oregon) you will play a key role in expanding our membership, strengthening industry partnerships, and driving the growth of our organization. Working closely with the Executive Director and our dedicated team, you'll help shape strategies that enhance the value we provide to members while ensuring IEC of Oregon remains at the forefront of the electrical and renewable energy industry.

IEC of Oregon is a leading trade association dedicated to advancing and supporting the independent electrical contracting industry. For over 46 years, we’ve provided world-class apprenticeship training, continuing education, and advocacy to help electrical contractors and industry professionals thrive.

As the Oregon chapter of the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) National Association, we represent a diverse network of electrical contractors across commercial, residential, industrial, and renewable energy sectors. Our mission is to promote open-market business opportunities, workforce development, and innovative training programs that empower the next generation of electricians.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Membership & Partnership Development

· Recruit and retain members and industry partners while managing sponsorship opportunities.

· Drive revenue through membership dues, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships.

· Enhance membership services, focusing on outreach, engagement, and relationship building.

· Develop and implement initiatives to strengthen external partnerships.

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

· Lead business development initiatives to support long-term growth.

· Work with leadership on membership engagement, outreach, and retention strategies.

· Support the Executive Director in executing IEC of Oregon’s strategic goals.

Event & Program Coordination

· Oversee sponsorship and business development aspects of IEC of Oregon events.

· Support event execution, including planning, logistics, and post-event analysis.

· Collaborate with training and education programs to align events with industry needs.

· Deliver presentations to senior leadership, partners, and external stakeholders.

Advocacy & Government Relations

· Work with the Executive Director and lobbyists to shape policies benefiting IEC of Oregon members and the electrical industry.

· Assist with informing government officials and stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission.

Customer Service & Additional Duties

· Provide excellent member and partner support.

· Perform other duties as assigned to support IEC of Oregon’s mission.

· Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to foster consensus among members, partners, apprentices, and the community.

· Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities, with the ability to inspire and guide teams effectively.

· Alignment with and a passion for IEC of Oregon’s mission, supporting open shop contractors through education, advocacy, and workforce development.

· Communication & Collaboration

· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

· Highly organized and proactive in managing internal and external communications.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-driven environment.

· Strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to shifting demands in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

· Business & Nonprofit Acumen

· Understanding of nonprofit governance and business operations (experience preferred).

· Ability to analyze, develop, and implement strategic initiatives that support long-term organizational growth.

· Knowledge of the electrical industry is not required but a plus.

· Technology & Digital Proficiency

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.

· Embrace continuous learning and the adoption of AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and improve member engagement.

· Proficient in using business communication platforms such as Outlook and Teams.

· Operational & Administrative Skills

· Superior time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.

· Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

· Strong customer service orientation, ensuring excellent support for members and partners.

· Experience with office systems and equipment, including phone systems, printers, and copiers.

· Proven ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

· Ability to adapt to new technologies and digital platforms for business advancement.

· Excellent service-driven customer-focused skills.

· Superior time management skills with adaptability.

Compensation & Growth Opportunities:

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

· Employer-paid health insurance/vision/dental after 60 days

· Three weeks of paid time off to start and 9 paid holidays
