Job Description

In this role as a Senior QA Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing test automation frameworks, performing various types of testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure all deliverables meet quality standards. You will be ensuring maximum test coverage by working closely with Product Owner and Product Manager and incorporating their feedback in your automated testing. As an important part of GFL’s Architecture and Development team, you will be providing coaching and guidance to QA Analysts and collaborating with Lead QA Engineer to design and implement company-wide best practices for QA Automation. You will get a chance to work on all layers of modern PWAs built using Svelte, AWS Aurora and Data lakes.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop test automation frameworks that adhere to best practices, design, and coding standards.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers and the project team to ensure the deliverables meet quality requirements and test coverage.
  • Perform functional, system, integration, and regression testing.
  • Develop a robust and maintainable repository of automated tests.
  • Log defects and work closely with engineers to troubleshoot and verify fixes.
  • Create quality status reports and escalate issues effectively to the project team.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Provide leadership in the form of coaching and guidance to QA Analyst.
  • Collaborate with Lead QA Engineer to help develop standards and recommend new practices, processes and technologies where required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent program.
  • Minimum 5+ years of QA experience with a focus on test automation.
  • Proficiency in automated testing tools and frameworks such as Playwright and Cypress.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into build pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines).
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including white-box, regression, and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with SQL and experience testing against different relational and non-relational databases.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hyper-collaborative Agile environment.
  • Must be a self-driven individual willing to proactively undertake any QA tasks as time progresses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum 2 year of hands-on experience with testing enterprise applications developed in Svelte.
  • Hands-on experience in testing modern PWAs and applications that use modern data streaming architecture.
  • Excellent knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.
