CHAIR & ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR

The Faculty of Arts at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick, invites

applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Economics. The Chair works with

students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to manage the Department of Economics and

reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts. The Chair provides leadership and vision in running

a department that offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Economics. The

department is composed of eight regular faculty members and is supported by several

contract academic instructors and an administrative assistant.

The incumbent would be appointed as a full-time faculty member in the Department of

Economics at the University of New Brunswick, at the rank of either Associate or Full Professor.

This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The salary range for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick

Teachers (AUNBT) 2022-2025 Collective Agreement section 36B.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Economics and an exemplary research record

in the field of economics. In addition, the successful candidate should have demonstrated

administrative skills and supervisory experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

While the area of specialization is open for this position, expertise in the areas of climate-

change economics, labour economics, or econometrics would be an asset.

In addition to the duties of Chair, the responsibilities involve research; teaching (on a reduced

load during the chairship); supervision of graduate students; developing or maintaining

relationships with other units in the university; internal and external committee membership;

and media and community outreach. The start date is expected to be July 1, 2025.
