Liberty Environmental, Inc., founded in 2004 and headquartered in Reading, PA, provides environmental consulting and engineering services to clients across the United States and in many industries. Other branch offices are located in Lancaster, PA, Berwyn, PA, Lebanon, NJ, and New York City.

Our staff is composed of national experts in air quality management, water and waste management, environmental compliance, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas management, storage tank management, natural resources, and geotechnical engineering.

We are seeking to fill a Civil Engineer II role in our company at our Reading, Pennsylvania office.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Civil Engineer II will have a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and practices, including building permits, wastewater treatment facilities and stormwater management, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The candidate will perform as a member of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists.

Reports To: Engineering Group Practice Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design projects related to environmental protection, wastewater and stormwater treatment systems.
  • Perform field inspections.
  • Oversee installation of pollution control systems.
  • Prepare water quality permit applications.
  • Prepare drawings detailing design work.
  • Experience with Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey permitting stormwater, wastewater, soil erosion and sediment control, and general site planning.
  • Establish and monitor schedules and budgets as they are related to the assigned projects.
  • Contributing to diverse design projects encompassing residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional land development, civil site design, utilities, roadway infrastructure, grading, and erosion control measures.
  • CAD design and drafting of site layouts, roadway, utilities, storm water management systems, and grading using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Evaluating various engineering alternatives and resolving technical challenges.
  • Collaborating closely with the project manager, design lead, and CAD designers to uphold company standards and best practices.
  • Engaging in client interaction and providing support as necessary.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering (MS Degree is a plus)
  • 6 + years’ experience in the environmental engineering field with a strong background development of civil infrastructure projects, landfill design and construction, stormwater design, wastewater management, roadways, and utility planning.

Required Skills:

  • Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey Professional Engineering License
  • Knowledge of construction principles and practices.
  • Experience with hydrology and hydraulics design and analysis software, (e.g. HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
  • Knowledgeable in the current PADEP & NJDEP Stormwater Management (SWM) Rules, Pennsylvania & New Jersey Stormwater BMP Manual/Green Infrastructure, PennDOT and PADEP waterway obstruction (PA Code Chapter 105) NJDEP Division of Land Resource Protection permits.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for drafting and design purposes.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to complete duties.
  • Driver’s License

Preferred skills:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Proficient technical writing skills and understanding of industry-standard IT applications
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities effectively.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, Full Time (8 AM – 5PM)

Work Setting:

  • In-person
  • Office: 70%
  • Field (Outside Project Sites): 30%
  • Travel: Primarily PA, NJ and NY

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
