Job Overview

The Pest Control Technician will provide professional pest control services to residential and commercial clients. The position involves working in various outdoor settings and heights, such as attics, rooftops, and other elevated areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply pest control treatments (chemicals, traps, or natural solutions) following safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform detailed inspections of properties to assess the extent of infestations and identify any pest-related damage.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, explaining the treatment process and advising on preventative measures.
  • Handle and maintain pest control equipment, keeping them in good working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of treatments and inspections.
  • Safely work in confined spaces, crawlspaces, and at heights (rooftops, attics, etc.).
  • Follow all company safety protocols and ensure health and safety regulations compliance.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and answering questions.
  • Collaborate with team members to solve complex pest issues and continuously improve service quality.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Entomology or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in pest control, either in Canada or internationally, with demonstrated knowledge in various pest control methods, including chemical, biological, and mechanical approaches.
  • A valid Pest Control Technician License, as mandated by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks (or an equivalent body), is required. Additional certifications in specific pest control methods or environmental safety practices would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years of driving experience with a valid G-class driver’s license (or international equivalent), and a clean driving record, as the role involves regular travel to client locations.
  • Ability and willingness to work in various environments, including heights (e.g. rooftops) and confined spaces (e.g. crawlspaces or attics). The role may require handling heavy equipment and exposure to challenging weather conditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, explain treatment plans, and provide clear preventive advice. Written documentation skills are also important for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to accurately diagnose pest and wildlife issues, assess the severity of infestations, and identify the most effective and sustainable solutions for each unique situation.
  • Collaborative and professional, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
