Description: The position is relationship driven, collaborative, and takes on an important role in becoming a part of our customers’ team. CSBA Senior Account Managers build and maintain customer and surety relations by servicing their daily needs. This may include but is not limited to submitting bond requests for approval to our sureties, preparing bonds, coordinating bond preparation with CSBA Account Managers, invoicing, obtaining bid results from customers and sending them to underwriters, requesting and analyzing financial statements, making recommendations to customers, sending financial information and negotiating terms with surety companies. When fielding leads for new prospective customers, the CSBA Senior Account Manager talks with the prospect to gain an understanding of their business plan, determine if the prospect is a good fit for CSBA, and if so, they will decide which type of program is appropriate for the prospective customer. The Senior Account Manager will then gather the necessary information, underwrite internally and submit the account to the appropriate surety for approval. The position helps contractors grow and accomplish their goals and will help CSBA grow as well.

Knowledge: No prior surety experience is required. An advanced 4-year degree (often in business) can be very helpful for this position, but it is not absolutely necessary. At a minimum, it requires a general business understanding in the areas of accounting, finance, law and economics. The candidate will also need to complete CSBA account management, underwriting and sales training.

Skills: Excellent communication, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, planning ahead and anticipating customer needs, follow through, organization, the ability to make independent judgements on the credit worthiness of customers, problem solving, creativity in finding solutions, negotiation skills to represent the customer and surety, and relationship building.

Effort: The position can be fast paced at times during high-volume periods, requires juggling multiple tasks and meeting important deadlines. It requires the ability to stay calm under pressure, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines. Using judgment to prioritize items and to know when to ask for assistance from team members to meet deadlines is critical. The ability to focus on in-depth analysis and switch back and forth between fast-paced and more methodical work is key.

Responsibility: The Senior Account Manager’s role is to retain and strengthen the customer relationship through serving their needs and providing guidance, while making prudent underwriting decisions to help the sureties manage risk successfully. This person will be responsible for fielding, placing and closing new leads.

Working Condition: This position is not remote and will be in our Orange, CA office. It is generally 8am to 5pm, but there are times where longer hours are required to meet a customer’s needs. There are meetings during and after normal business hours, occasional travel to customers typically in Southern California, and associations event participation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
